Does poetry make a difference? I hope so. I can protest, I can send money, I can write my congresspeople, but really, I am a poet, so here is "I Declare My Resistance," first published in Rise Up Review.

If your husband/boyfriend/brother/father isn't horrified and outraged by what happened to Renee Nicole Good, they won't be horrified or outraged when it happens to you. Something to think about. #ReneeNicoleGood #murderedpoets #murderedmothers #getridofICE

I don't know who needs to hear this, but cops are not allowed to shoot people just because you didn't do what they said.

That is called murder when they do that.

Some cops are working hard to convince people otherwise.

Calamity
-Jeannine Hall Gailey

Your family is coming over for Thanksgiving.
Even worse, it’s snowing.

Headless robots are playing soccer with your soul.
UFOs have been sighted overhead.

A meteor is definitely heading straight for you.

My hot take: There is no such thing as "Toxic Empathy." There are people who have empathy for others, and there are toxic narcissists, bullies, and assholes. That's it. Those are your choices. #toxicempathydoesnotexist
