One man-day wasted by attempting to make observability/OTel/X-Ray work on containerized dotnet Lambda (AWS)

Plan for next week: getting rid of Lamd and putting app to ECS worker 🤷‍♂️

.http client files are magical. Especially when your team uses JetBrains/Rider, Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code...

Maybe we need to standardize another tool or something 🤷‍♂️

Trying to watch some tutorials related to AI/Coding agents, struggling to learn anything, but still wonder:

Does it make you feel special when you open terminal in your IDE to type `touch file` (making few typos in the process), instead of just clicking "+" button in the file explorer?! 🥲

Owning Sony WH-H900N. Bought in 2017. Still works flawlessly - except battery.

Finally made request to Sony service and ordered battery replacement. But guess what, current battery somehow senses it's getting replaced and capacity is back to normal.

This happens so often with all devices 😅

Starting new year by installing openSUSE to my good ol' ThinkPad T510, replacing Windows 10 which apparently have no future (even in EU).

If I install Manjaro, is it enough to use "I use Arch btw" for greetings, or do I really have to use Arch itself?

Just found out upgrade-assistant is deprecated. And replacement? Visual Studio "addon"?! Not even Visual Studio Code 🤦‍♂️

It's fascinating how AI, instead of admitting it did something wrong and rolled back, it keeps building on its wrong decision and iterates to complete spaghetti mayhem - no matter what.

People: We want a phone that fits in one hand and has battery for more than a day.

Apple: Here’s one so huge you can wear it like a purse. Or super thin with half the battery.

People: 🤦 #AppleEvent

Hi @anthropic.com! I'm struggling with account management. There's my account, but also organization - and I don't get why.

It shows me to buy credits, while I would rather go with subscription.

I'm lost, following links from support pages - running in circles.

@microsoft.com Teams fail: Up until now, I didn’t even know I could do PSTN calls with Teams!

But it’s not that simple: first had to check Reddit to figure out how to access dial pad, then I found out it’s not available on iOS.

... and even then, it still doesn’t work - call fails immediately.

I'm so exhausted 😪 that I typed:
sudo apt-get update

intead of:
winget upgrade --all

I’m puzzled, too much AI-ness recently.

If I use VS Code with GitHub Copilot, why should I switch to Claude Code when Copilot has Claude/Sonnet models available?

What is Cursor bringing me when I already use VS Code?

Genuine questions 😓

In the early days of @bsky.app, I had to mute several hundred accounts.

Things seem better now, but there’s no easy way to unmute that many manually.

So—I vibe-coded my first working (!!!) script to do it. Took Copilot ~10 retries, but it worked—while I watched YouTube 🥳

What a Monday!

Need to use Polly. Can't navigate myself trough API. Asking Copilot. It hallucinates thing which don't even exist - typical, I think for myself.

Going to Polly docs directly, and what do I see? Same nonexistent APIs referenced all over the place 🥲 #PollyDotNet

I'm impressed by LLM capabilities.

On the one hand, GitHub Copilot can generate or suggest absolute garbage code.

On the other hand, ChatGPT just asked me for the hex output of an MOI file, figured out how to extract metadata from it, and gave me a command I could just run.

I was playing with Copilot agent mode this weekend, and I was stunned. It indeed is like junior developer:

It would be way faster if I did the work myself, without having to explain it several times, and redo afterwards anyway 🤷‍♂️

Looking at you @incident.io 😭

Just in the span of a few days, we’ve dealt with several issues related to...

...primitive obsession!

Problems we wouldn’t even have to think about if we used dedicated types instead of `string`. And yet, some people still think defining types is overkill. 🥲🤷‍♂️

Read those posts of people claiming they managed to build whole app with "AI" (*cough* LLM *cough*). So I decided to try it as well!

Asked Claude to create me simple game (leaving rough corners). It generated impressive amount of code - and guess what:

... it didn't even run 👌

My team in 2020: Hey everyone, don't use `react-scripts`, it pulls tons of deps, brings somewhat opinionated webpack configuration, it's impossible/difficult to tweak, ... it will become unmaintainable, believe us.

I tend to make fun of Python, Go or npm how terribly those ecosystems handle dependencies and version resolution

Today, I encountered similar sh*t show in .NET with various packages referencing MS.* 9.0.x, others 8.0.x, all that while targeting net8.0 🤷‍♂️

Me opening topic of doing "X" to my team.
Team: are you crazy? That won't work. The stupidest idea ever!

Several months later, team meets expert who talks about doing "X".
Team: This is marvelous, such a great idea! We love it.

Can’t really recall details but I agree. Two weeks using Windows Vista and I switched to linux distro. Vista was superior, no other Windows release made me run away from it that fast!
Vista was actually pretty good. It had some major initial driver issues and required more resources (especially graphics to run aero) than were necessary because of OS X envy, but it set the stage for 7 to be a modern and secure OS, totally agree.
