New data from the Climate TRACE coalition show global #emissions reached 5.17 Bt CO2e in May 2025, and emissions from the #power sector dropped slightly compared to May 2024.
Sector insights: May 2025 vs. May 2024

Unchanged: emissions from agriculture, buildings, fluorinated gases, and mineral extraction.

📈 Increased: emissions from fossil fuel operations, transportation, and waste sectors.

📉 Decreased: manufacturing and power sector emissions.

3,400 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity were wasted last year in CA. It doesn't have to be that way.

Optimizing battery dispatch based on a marginal emissions forecast allows electric grids to make the most of available clean power so that less goes to waste.
