The Rotary snowplow is a piece of railroad snow removal equipment with a large circular set of blades on its front end that rotate to cut through the snow on the track ahead of it. It was developed in the late 19th century for use when snow is too deep to be removed by a wedge snowplow.

The wedge plow is still in use today in combination with the high-maintenance rotary snowplow.

The wedge plow or Bucker plow was first developed by railroad companies to clear snow in the American West. The wedge plow forces snow to the sides of the tracks and therefore requires a large amount of force due to the compression of snow.

They took down the mentions to slavery at #GeorgeWashington 's home here in #Philly. Did you know that when #GW lived here, a law said any #slave in Philly was automatically freed if he/she was here for 30 days? GW rotated in and out groups of slaves from Virginia every 29 days to get around this.
