I'm a genius and forgot to save the full dpi unflattened version of this I posted earlier. I had notes anyway, so needed to make some changes. Just ended up doing a whole different finish on it.

There's been a lot of non-art making life getting in the way over the last couple weeks. I do think I'm getting close to the finish line here though. Stops and starts, but still trying to make the new (to me) process gel. No way out but through I suppose.

A couple of Ivan Albright paintings from the Art Institute of Chicago's collection. It's well worth your time to get lost in that building if you're ever in the Windy City. Reproductions do these a disservice they are astonishing in person.

Was able to spend a long weekend wandering through Chicago, celebrating our 21st anniversary. Not a bad looking town to explore.

Did some reworking on the poster image I've been working on. Being able to import and manipulate .obj files is a game changer in Clip. I should have taken advantage of WAY sooner. (The staves on the henchmen are much more uniform now.) Lots more to do yet.

If I ever get to pitch the Shadow, I'm stapling these designs to the pitch package. That thing is beautiful.
Fascinating story about a “ghost” concept car that was designed in 1939 but possibly/maybe/probably not actually built at the time, and only discovered when the sketches were found in a barn decades later.

Is there any justification for DC Comics to have never put out an Art of Curt Swan book? He spent decades being a definitive artist on one of the most recognizable characters in history. You'd think that would warrant some flowers. Are reprint collections really enough?

I wish the gag of reed Richards just TROLLING Dr Doom at every turn had caught on. Giving Luke Cage access to the Fantasticar to fly trans-Atlantic to hassle Doom over $200, is next level of petty. There's so many options to continue this.

Early very cropped WiP. I got conned into working on a poster for a fan film my kid and his film student buddies have shot. (Guerilla budget tokusatsu.) These nerds are each about 3" tall or so.

Stumbled onto the Bill Sienkiewicz Artisan Edition that absolutely had to come home with me. I'm going to spend way too many hours gawking at this. #comics #art

This month marks 100 years since the Church Hill tunnel collapse. The incident spawned the local urban legend of the Vampire of Hollywood Cemetery here in RVA. Goth kids have spent a lot of time over the decades outside WW Pool's mausoleum because of the story.

Filed under dumb ideas that would get my number blocked by editors (if they were ever taking my calls). A Quasar/Ka-Zar odd couple type team up.

In my head it would be Hard traveling Heroes by way of the Bwa-haha Justice League. And likely sell 4 copies. #comics #whatif #pipedreams #elevatorpitch

Kind of sobering, when you realize you've gotten old enough that your youth is now a Halloween costume.

I guess I'm just collecting collage elements from my travel photos in my spare time, these days? Halftone filters are a lot of fun. #art #sortofanyway?

Slight rework to my Admiral Ackbar sketch. Deleted the blue plate from the previous version, added a border frame and a pulp paper texture instead of a cardstock. I think I prefer this one. #art #starwars

A photo I took of a Highland Cow, cut out and spit out of @truegrittexture.bsky.social zine machine. Just goofing with the tools more really. Fun to do things without an endgame plan for them sone times. #art #clipstudiopaint

Colored a sketch of Admiral Ackbar using risograph shaders. May need to find/make some more graphic style drawins to be able to really push the effect more. It's been refreshing to draw for absolutely no reason again.

We got lost on the grounds of Balmoral. Ended up trespassing through a private property and emerging outside the gates and asking to be let back in. The kindly worker exclaimed "impressive" when hearing our mishap. 50k+ acres and we still ended up off reservation. Fantastic hike though.

While the Abbey has a grave marker for King Robert III, it also has a gargoyle that's been carved into a xenomorph. It's a pretty interesting look at how the Scots view history. #travel #photo #Scotland
