Fenland is my home and muse.
Pinned
The Fenland of Cambridgeshire is my photographic “backyard” -a place of wide open landscape broken by drains, droves and lines. The rich black peat , slowly eroding contrasts against constantly changing light.

Using pinhole, polaroid and Holga cameras I try to capture the still beauty of the place.
Royal Institution Christmas Lectures then Murder on the Orient Express - perfect end to a chilled day of Twixmas

A couple of hours back in the Fenland Darkroom and working on Rolleiflex / Kodak Gold negatives from last June’s trip to Devon - portraits of folk we met whilst with our friend Ian Flemming who showed us around.

I have an ongoing fascination with America, its back roads and the icon of the road trip.
“Outside it’s America” is the title for prints made over the years of my own experience.

My Rolleicord and LCA 120 will be my go to medium format cameras this year due to their relatively low weight so very pleased to get a lovely set of +1 Rolleinars today at an excellent price.

Possibly the most useful diopter size for me.

For some years now I’ve watched Adam the Woo on YouTube travel across America, enthuse about Disney stuff (wasn’t my cup of tea but he loved it) and in the last year travelling around the world. I’m devastated to hear of his passing at 51 - damn we just never know what’s round the corner ….

This afternoon in the land of the retired I have mostly been developing a roll of HP5 from the Holga Pan 120 (Vermuyden Land print project) and catching up on some reading.

Yet to make a print from this large format X-ray film negative (from a pinhole camera) - but it’s on my to do list for early next year.

As well as the lovely quarterly print magazine you get these excellent monthly digital magazines too.
All excellent.

Loaded up for Christmas slide show food - the 35RC is a very clever camera with a small flashgun , the “Flashmatic” system opens and closes the aperture of the camera according to focus distance and guide number set, it’s all mechanical and rather brilliant

I was encouraged by our daughter in law at last nights slide show, “oh I don’t have those photos” and “ do some more on Christmas Day” - so the slide film is back in the Olympus 35RC

Big brother and little sister - been touching up a few paint chips with some satin enamel paint.
Prints made from both these are rather lovely but at the moment I’m preferring the Rolleicord as it’s a little smaller and lighter, will take to Paris in January.

Not sure if you recognise that alleyway @stigofthedump.bsky.social ?

Somewhere on the 2024 November Mersey meet up I think - phone box at Forest of Dean at the campsite we stayed at.

New screen from Rick Oleson in the States - mirror was a bit dusty but cleaned it and viewing lens whilst the screen was removed - I’ve used these screens before and they are awesome

Switched on my Jobo processor at noon - been waiting for bloody Royal Mail to deliver - what an absolute waste of space.
Given up on darkroom work today now .

I know companies like Evri get a lot of stick, personally I’ve always found the service excellent and tracking really good. I wish I could say about the appalling service Royal Mail offers, surely it’s a matter of time before they are defunct.

I have a lot of infantile fun commenting on those “then and now” posts on FB - I always say how much nicer the landscape is now - then sit back and wait …… ok I know 😂
December 18, 2025 at 11:23 AM
I had my Rolleiflex 3.5e loaded with some Kodak Gold whilst we were in the Forest of Dean a couple of summers ago.
Can’t beat an old phone box so had to be done, making prints now.
