I have a theory that supernatural entities target melodramatic people. It’s the same principle as predators being able to smell fear.

When folks look at my maximalist lifestyle & say “I could never live like that”, what I hear is “I could never put the energy & care into creating something so intricate & detailed”.

Unable to stop thinking about how a therapist I look up to said “By definition, all teenagers are narcissists” bc the definition is “someone who is so insecure, they use ego as a method to convince others— and therein themselves— of their worth”, & I think most people just never grow out of that.

Exhausted by being called “no fun” or a “buzzkill” for not wanting to partake in the average American diet of processed sugar and junk. I didn’t realise the normalised definition of “having a good time” was a few moments of temporary dopamine followed by two hours on the shitter in abject misery

Remember to not take it into yourself when folks resent / can’t celebrate your happiness. It just means they’re too married to their own pain to see outside of it— We can be mindful of that while still being grateful for our own fortune, and not letting their barbs sink in.

It seems more and more that, in the course of making basic life things more “convenient” (getting food, washing clothes etc) and introducing capitalism to oversee it all, people have simply forgotten how to appreciate anything and therein circled back around to everything being all-consumingly hard.
