I'm a vinyl fan but some of the pricing for this stuff is a bit ridiculous... I know it's all remastered and on high quality 180g vinyl, but still...
(I got the 1979 New Years Concert discs for a fiver at Notting Hill)

So there's a job going at the BBC now I hear? Director General? 🤔

My cost saving proposal would be to scrap all the extra digital channels and just introduce one to replace them:
BBC Wagner.

(And NOT with Titchmarsh presenting)

In one of those 'must listen to Prokofiev and Shostakovich ' kind of moods. We all get them.

As the shops have already started playing Christmas music guess it's not too early to start becoming obsessed with this again 😁

Very impressed with Stage+. The sound quality is better than Spotify, even listening to both on Lossless Stage+ comes out best.

The quality of these restorations stills astonishes me (as do the performances themselves!).
Great box set full of glories.

Tchaikovsky died OTD 1893.
My 'gateway drug' into music (although I'm rather embarrassed to say I was most obsessed with the 1812, which I listened to almost daily🙄). Then I discovered the symphonies and everything changed forever...

Strange to see Peterborough (where I now live) and Huntingdon (where I used to live) both headline news. I just wish it were for a better reason. Sympathy and solidarity to all affected. Stay safe out there.

Once if you wanted to listen to the Ring at home you had to get through 16 LPs, or sets of several operas in one box set could be 18 or 19 records, really heavy box sets.... Wagnerites in the 60s and 70s must've been truly hench 💪

The Monday Film - a Herzog classic, possibly his masterpiece. You're not a real opera fan until you've hauled a ship over a mountain in the Andes to fund the building of an opera house. (And playing as a tribute to dear Claudia C.)
