Because the AAA has been a ticking time bomb for at LEAST a decade! Increased budget demands, lower dev pay, destructive layoffs, the list continues. In the end indie games will be all that remain. And probably Nintendo.

Kingdom Hearts has long been a story that has suffered from trying to continue well past the point it should have ended. If they want to continue it, it's time to refresh the plot and characters. The current lore is far too messy for new players to be able to enter into easily.

In the same vein, shooters and fighting games are designed to have winners. They have intended tech, intended strategies, etc. In multiplayer games you are simply executing against another player. That's the only difference. Understanding patterns from players isn't much different from solo play.
lrt single-player games want you to win, they give you the tools to do this
the only way you can truly feel like a brain genius in video games is mixing somebody into the next goddamn dimension in a fighting game, or doing some crazy 4D chess brilliant play in a shooter

I have genuinely forgotten how long Suikoden 2 is compared to the first game. That isn't a bad thing at all, especially since the story and characters are so much more interesting. We spend so much time winning in S1 that seeing the hero lose so many times in S2 makes me feel closer to him.

Finished Suikoden 1 HD 100% Hard Mode tonight. I'm fond of the script changes/fixes (True Holy Rune is now High-Speed Rune, Star Dragon Sword is now Celestial Sword) and the gameplay tweeks that kept the game honest to the original while also making it a bit more user-friendly to navigate.
