Food retail profits set a records $6.3b in 2024, more than 2x pre-COVID norms. The profit margin (as % of revenue) has also doubled even as profits in other industries fell. Collective bargaining is undermined when government puts its heavy hand on the scale in favour of employers.

Ordering workers back and saying it will lead to better contract negotiations is a joke.

But the only ones laughing are Amazon and Canada Post management.
