Tim Cywinski For Congress
@votetimva.com
Reformist Democrat Running for Congress in Virginia’s 1st District. No corporate cash. No strings attached. Just a belief that people deserve A New Way Forward.
Pinned
I'm Tim Cywinski and I'm running for Va's First Congressional district because I'm tired of half-measures and broken promises. Delivering real solutions for real people is not a matter of possibility, it's a matter of political will. I hope you'll support my campaign to build A New Way Forward
Statement on the new maps, which I support.

Let’s be clear, there’s no guarantee the amendment will pass, the GOP will spends millions fighting our effort to balance the scales.

I’m running to restore representation to the ppl of the 1st. If that hurts my chances at winning a primary so be it.

A VCU student asked me what happens when party pressure and lobbyists show up.

It’s a fair question. Here’s my answer:

Ideals are compromised only if you’re afraid to use power when you have it.

I’m not.

ICE has been used a tool for cruelty and violence against innocent people.

If one entity can do so much harm in such a short amount of time, it needs to go.
January 29, 2026 at 2:49 PM
No amount of gaslighting from the Trump crowd can hide what we’re seeing — ICE agents killing innocent people.

This isn’t “law and order,” it’s unleashed, unchecked brutality of this administration.

ICE has to end this reign of terror.

Enough bloodshed. Accountability now.
January 25, 2026 at 3:17 AM
When an agency reaches this level of cruelty, there must be consequences.

And let’s be clear about this:

Harming innocent children doesn’t lower healthcare prices.

It doesn’t lower everyday costs.

And it doesn’t make us safer.

It’s just cruel. I won’t stand for it.

Thank you @rva-indivisible.bsky.social for organizing the MLK vigil for peace tonight.

So many people gathered to honor the legacy of champions for change & show a willingness to fight for a future we’ve longed deserved.

It was great to see @erickakopp.com & @salaambhattiva.bsky.social there too

The brutality executed by ICE on a daily basis — both in our neighborhoods & on people of color — is unacceptable.

I’m mad that this violence is so well funded, when that money should go to investing in people, not hatred.

Immigrants are part of this country. Systems built on cruelty are not.

#VA01 Dem candidates: Please speak out more on your policies related to ICE & foreign affairs in addition to healthcare & affordability. Thanks!

Yesterday, I spoke at the Stop The Data Center Takeover Rally for my Job at the Virginia Sierra Club — the only way to stop Big Tech from destroying our neighborhoods is through local community resistance.

As a Congressman, I will end Big Tech’s exploitation of Va and everywhere else.
January 16, 2026 at 6:12 PM
But… that’s literally thier job
January 13, 2026 at 6:29 PM
We deserve leaders who are unafraid to speak out when injustice strikes.

ICE murdered someone last week and they terrorize our neighborhoods and people of color daily.

Proud to stand alongside @salaambhattiva.bsky.social & Elizabeth Dempsey Beggs at the ICE out of VA rally.

The Supreme Court supercharged Big Money in elections with Citizens United — it’s time to balance the scales.

My public voucher plan levels the playing field by giving voters $500 every quarter to donate to candidates of their choice. It gives our tax money back to us, and strengthens are democracy

When people are hurting, it’s easy to win elections by selling hate.

America: can we please have affordable healthcare? It’s literally the number 1 cause of bankruptcy.

GOP: Nah.

This is severely unacceptable.

People died when they didn’t have to — all because we fail to uphold our duty to respect the dignity of certain groups.

Make no mistake. Horrific outcomes like this is a choice.

And I choose to fight for a better future for all of us.

“We all live in a never-ending battle between good and evil — and the difference is made by those who show up and fight hard.”

I know which side I’m on.

Thanks @styleweekly.com for the Top 40 Under 40 recognition. It’s an honor — and a reminder to fight for a future that works for all of us.

My daughter and I appreciated the chance to share our stories during this roundtable event.

It was an honor to join our exceptional co-panelists, and we heard many compelling and heartbreaking stories from members of the disability community. (thread)
Today’s disAbility Visibility panel. I can’t thank you enough.

There are many challenges we discussed today — changing policy and perspectives was among them. That’s won’t be easy, but - like so many of our obstacles - it’s possible to overcome.

And we will. I promise to fight with you to do so.

Thank you, @heathermassey.com for sharing your insight today.

We can read up on any given issue all we want, but nothing can replace the value of voices of people who live these challenged everyday.
This roundtable was phenomenal! I'll write up my thoughts about it soon but for now want to thank @votetimva.com, the organizers, and all the terrific folks who attended for making it happen. :)
One of my campaign promises is that raising people’s voices will always be more important than raising the most money.

So I’ll hope you share yours at our DisAbility Visibility this Saturday in Chesterfield.

Building a future that works for everyone requires listening — especially from those who are so often left unheard.

That’s why we’re hosting a free and open discussion about issue facing people w/ disabilities on December 6th in Chesterfield.

Today is about gratitude, so I’m thankful for the people who keep our communities strong — workers, caregivers, volunteers, and neighbors who are there for each other every day.

We deserve a future where our leaders show up the same way.

Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving.

I believe everyone’s voice matters.

Also Crowded primaries are good — a mix of ideas & a willingness to share them strengthens the base.

I’ve never met James (@daredevil-one.bsky.social), but I respect anyone willing to fight for what they believe in.

Wishing him the best in whatever comes next.
Big news in the #VA01 race: @daredevil-one.bsky.social has suspended his campaign. We applaud James’s early entry in the race, and how he set the tone of collaboration and mutual respect among the candidates. Together, one of them will win!

I was recently on a panel on the harms of reckless data center growth (I was there for my job in environmental justice, not as a candidate).

No amount of 💰 from Big Tech is worth hurting communities. It’s why I've fought them so hard in Va, and why I will fight for accountability in Congress.
