The epistemology of fascism is not cult-like, rigid dogmatism. It's "lol-nothing-matters, they're all a bunch of liars" cynicism. That is the mindset that will pliantly accept whatever authoritarian excesses Trump engages in, and both Trump and Elon are 100% aware of that.

There's no way I'm going to the US right now. Especially not for an academic conference.
With everything happening in the US right now, how safe are scientific conferences for foreign participants in the US? I think this is something we have to discuss as a scientific community. I am hesitating to register for US meetings due to the unpredictable situation. Others who feel the same?

Pay attention to what JD Vance and Musk are saying to Europe. They are upset that Europe is not giving them full "free speech" rights in digital information. Translation: MAGA won in a swamp of disinformation, much of it on SM platforms like X. They want RW govts in Europe, using the same model.

Als deutscher Politiker noch auf Twitter zu sein, ist wie bei Pegida zu sprechen. Man erreicht nichts ausser der Bühne mehr Relevanz zu verleihen. Deutschland hat Glück gehabt, dass Twitter hier nie richtig gross geworden ist. Jetzt sollte man dort wirklich abhauen.
