Cook is missing out on grant money from the federal government as we are a safe seat. Since 2018/19 grant increases in Cook were 9% but in Sydney seats with independent MPs increases were 320% (Warringah), 240% (both Wentworth and North Sydney). Cook deserves better!!

Your regular reminder that there’s nothing, nada, zero - that we can do about the US - but there’s a LOT we can do to make sure it doesn’t happen to us.

It’s already happening.
The only thing stopping a Trumpian Australia is us. EVERYBODY has to get out of the stands and into the arena. Our very democracy is at stake!

Gina Rinehart said: “If we are sensible, we should set up a DOGE." Days later Peter Dutton & Jacinta Nampijinpa Price are announcing one. Efficiency? He already has James Stevens as shadow assistant minister for government waste reduction. #auspol www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
From Doge to Smoge, Peter Dutton’s Coalition is an eerie echo of Trump (and Musk’s) America
Dutton’s cabinet reshuffle added the shadow minister of government efficiency role to Jacinta Nampijinpa Price’s position – but it sounds a bit familiar

It feels so great to be FOR something, instead of AGAINST.

The Independents movement is FOR Democracy. Dutton’s LNP are against it.

The choice is simple. #auspol #IndependentsDay

Seriously - how insulting to the many thousands of great Austs who are engaging in our democracy in a constructive & positive way.

The best thing we can all do to counter politicians like Dutton is to get actively involved!!!

Do it today 🙌🙌 #IndependentsDay #auspol

In 2024, Germany achieved its cleanest electricity mix ever, with renewables powering 62.7% of net electricity generation.
With no nuclear power for the first time since 1962, Germany shows we can build a future powered by sustainable energy without relying on outdated technologies.

The duopoly want the public to have low expectations. They play the low game, they don’t engage in productive debate or solutions. Bring on the community candidates in 2025. You know you deserve better.

(57%) of Australians say ‘global warming is a serious and pressing problem about which we should begin taking steps now, even if this involves significant costs. Why won’t our politicians act?

Isn’t it annoying when we know the solutions to many of our problems but there is no political will to implement them? We need a paradigm shift in representative politics.

I think the meaning of the House of Representatives is lost. Our members are supposed to represent us - do they even know what we want?

Just read “If Australia could be brave” by @amyremeikis.bsky.social in “What’s the big idea”. Three pages of clear, cut-through thinking. The bucket of crabs analogy beautifully sums up Australian politics at the moment.

Australians are becoming less satisfied with democracy and think that people in government just look out for themselves and not the people who elect them.

If nuclear power is spruiked as ‘clean’ we need to highlight the waste issue for our community. Currently there is no permanent solution to waste disposal from nuclear power. The US EPA requires the isolation of nuclear waste for 10,000 years. Let that sink in!

This… more misinformation. We need the truth from our politicians and our press
What's wrong with this ABC news strap? There are no SMR octogenarians (which is directly what Peter Dutton was referring to) in the world. If factcheckers have been over these sorts of claims then the ABC cannot simply throw up a headline like this. It's misinformation. #auspol
