NPR reported this morning that, based on their review of the #Epstein emails released yesterday, Trump’s name appeared more than 1,000 times in the document—

My summer reading order has been changed. I made it +40% through Lolita and tabled it because the flowery writing was putting me to sleep and needs more focus than I can give it currently. I just finished The Curious Incident of the dog In the Night-Time (5/5). Next is pictured. #booksky

Lolita is proving to be a tough book to force myself through. I’m 39% of the way through and I’m only averaging 2-3 pages in a sitting before I have to step away. If I can’t make it 30% further tonight, I’m going to have to table it for now. #booksky

My reading order for the summer. Trying to win a rec center subscription through my library’s summer reading challenge. “Things Fall Apart” will be number 38 this year. Wish me luck! #booksky #buyusednotnew

I just finished The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. Humor, horror, heartbreak, and hope. I’m overwhelmed by her story and courage. A brilliant writer who was denied the right to a long illustrious life. I’m going to need a while before I pick up book 32. #booksky

Just finished “Call Me By Your Name.” Excellent, summery, idyllic, live-wire, and contemplative. 5/5. Now onto the 22nd book, which is a toss up between “Red Rising” by Pierce Brown, “Parable of the Sower” by Octavia Butler, and “Storm Front” by Jim Butcher. Any votes? #booksky

I also forgot to mention that my 19th book this year was “Solaris” by Stanislaw Lem. An interesting take on alien intelligence and contact. Definitely a bit trippy, but not quite to the level of “Annihilation” by Jeff VanderMeer. I give it a 4.7/5. #booksky

Ok, the Iliad is a slow for me, so I read “Babel” by R.F. Kuang (bought it since it’s too popular at my library). It’s excellent and makes me really want to read “The Poppy War” & “Yellowface” by the same author. 20 books down, ten to go to reach my goal. “Call Me By Your Name” is next. #booksky

I switched to Emily Wilson’s translation of the Iliad. Much more readable than Pope’s monotonous couplets. I also picked up “Solaris” by Stanislaw Lem which is going by rather quickly. Started rewatching Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, yeah, book’s better. #booksky

So I may be reading the wrong translation of the Iliad by Homer. I downloaded the translation by Alexander Pope, but the rhyming couplets are a bit monotonous. The other options I’ve seen are Emily Hamilton’s or Robert Graves’s. Any suggestions? #booksky

Now onto the Iliad by Homer, The Best of Jack Vance, and Lessons In Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. The short story collection of Jack Vance is for when I get too emotionally overwhelmed by Lessons and too bored by Homer. Wish me luck! #booksky

Read “Darius the Great Is Not Okay” by Adib Khorram. 5/5. Beautiful story. Read “Prometheus Bound” by Aeschylus. Not sure I believe Prometheus, but intrigued nonetheless. “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adams. 5/5 no notes.

Finished “The Bell Jar” by Sylvia Plath (5/5). Compelling, funny, deeply earnest, and an altogether beautiful story. Also read Hesiod’s Theogony. Now reading “Darius the Great Is Not Okay” Adib Khorram, “Prometheus Bound” Aeschylus, and “Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” Douglas Adams #booksky

60% through Jade City and I’m calling it. To the DNF pile it goes. Now reading some works by Hesiod (Theogony, Works & Days, Shield). Then onto either The Bell Jar or All Quiet On the Western Front. Hate not finishing a book 😞 #booksky

40% through Jade City by Fonda Lee. Beginning drags for a while. More mafia than fantasy. I’m going to try to finish, but I’ve fallen asleep several times so far while reading. Sorry, Fonda! #booksky

Next up, book 12 of 2025, Jade City by Fonda Lee! After, I will probably rifle through a bunch of shorties to get my numbers up, before moving onto more Patrick Rothfuss and Brandon Sanderson. Although, I may be tempted to frolic with Sir Pratchett for a spell. #booksky
