Since it's Women's History Month, I want to share a few quotes from bell hooks' text, Feminist Theory from Margin to Center. A term the general public THINKS it knows but rarely actually understands is "feminism". A quick 🧵:

And please go sure your support for Blood of Zeus so that the Parlapanides Brothers can continue to create great projects like this one. Oh, and stay tuned because we have one more VERY special episode coming soon to celebrate the completion of this series!
After five years, this animated Greek myth retelling comes to a glorious end! It wouldn't be a Blood of Zeus episode if we didn't bring back the reigning champ and monster 'enthusiast' Zoé Thomas @archaeadne.bsky.social!

okay, if you think gAI is a positive, that its "here to stay", and you're so proud of using gAI to write create art, claim it. Disclose when you use it to read, write, think, create.
Have the integrity to publicly declare that you used gAI--its all the silence and secrecy that is so interesting.

If you squint really hard, this almost works as a reception of archaeology (one of the four fields of anthropology) in pop media. Regardless, we had a great time discussing this film and doing our best Thermian accents. Except me. I failed.
We continue our suite of host-picks that have nothing to do with the central premise of our show with Colin's random movie pick: Dean Parisot's 1999 addition to the Star Trek canon: Galaxy Quest.

Thank you so much to everyone that helped make this special #Takeover episode covering #Epic The Musical possible!

@mythsbaby.bsky.social took a big chance on the premise and @joegoodkin.bsky.social and @sentantiq.bsky.social were the perfect duo to discuss this modern retelling!

So thrilled to have @voguearchaeology.bsky.social host a takeover episode to talk all things Epic! Today’s episode features the perfect guests, @sentantiq.bsky.social and @joegoodkin.bsky.social and endless insights into the musical (and the Odyssey)!
"This is chiefly what I find important about creative receptions like Epic: The Musical. They both update ancient narratives for modern audiences and provide reinterpretations. In the latter capacity, Epic does as well–if not better–than a lot of scholarship. "

Had a blast talking about Epic with @voguearchaeology.bsky.social and @sentantiq.bsky.social as part of Liv’s @mythsbaby.bsky.social podcast. Come for the reception talk, stay for the preponderance of 90’s music references.

New episode drop today! Come check out @ecfleming.bsky.social's host pick: Alien vs. Predator

Listen here: shows.acast.com/67d1eebcba1e...
Join us for a review of this classic tale of human explorers finding themselves caught in a centuries-long struggle betwixt newly born larvae and a teen coming-of-age party. It's got archaeology, some form of feminism(?), and whole heaps of blood. 2004 called and said, "this movie's EXXXTREME!"
