Unfortunately too true, as I learned speaking with conservative relatives in India recently. Discussing counterpoints to their opinions is an exercise in futility because it's irrelevant how logic applies to this world view. It's almost religious fervour for the god given role of suffering.
They don't consider this to be an ideology; this is just 'how things are'.
The only thing that can change is who in the hierarchy is suffering.
And they therefore take the (rational, horrible) position that their job is to make sure they and theirs are not the ones at the bottom.
