Rauma hasn't had regular passenger trains since the 80s, only freight. As a teen, I felt mocked when locomotives blocked the crossing just to reverse, as if teasing me for not being able to take a train from my hometown. On my visit, I found nothing had changed in 30 years.

Visiting my hometown Rauma, Finland, my kids jokingly asked if we had returned to Astrid Lindgren's World theme park in Sweden.

Two years ago today: Interrailing on our Magical Mysterail Tour. Woke up in Carbis Bay in Cornwall. Had a nice seaside walk to St Ives, where seagulls stole @sebwilken.net's Cornish pasty straight from his hand. Took the train to Penzance and boarded the cozy Night Riviera to London.

I interrailed to Spain fast. After my internship, I returned at a more leisurely speed.
What's the easiest way to plan the route and book seats, some ask me. I think it's having @sebwilken.net as your boyfriend & travel companion.

End of February: I visited Seville for a long weekend and was charmed by it even if it was raining most of the time.

I was freezing in the south of Spain in Feb and March. As a Finn, I am used to it being cold outside but warm inside. Here it was the other way around (due to hot summers).
No heating, single-pane windows, stone or tiled floors and surfaces. I called the houses marble igloos and slept in a sweater.
