Walking home with the dog, a van drove by. A traditionally dressed guy said “Happy Hanukkah.” I replied “thank you!” and waved with my dog-poop-bag hand, not my leash-holding hand. Idiot. Felt bad since. “I return your holiday greeting with a sack of plastic encased dog poo.”

Just read the response from Costco to shareholders requesting it back down from DEI. It was glorious. It begins "Our Board has considered this proposal and believes … an enterprise rooted in respect and inclusion is appropriate and necessary." and gets better. A happy investor #diversityandinclusion

Over the Holiday break, I plan to train an LLM on my texts and Slack messages to respond for me and see how long / if anyone notices it isn't me. I'm thinking I could go a few months, even with family. Next moving on to emails, then my job.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you don't need to justify your reading preferences and choices to anyone. Audiobooks count as reading. Also, you don't have to finish books you don't enjoy. Don't read to impress, read for yourself. Life's too short, love yourself, ok?

When I was a child, I learned that the Constitution didn’t apply to people like us. I said the Pledge of Allegiance from inside a barbed wire camp, the words “with liberty and justice for all” wholly meaningless.
But I did not give up on America. I’ve spent my life fighting for its ideals.

When we were children, we were taught that no matter how you reached, no matter much wealth and power you accumulated, you were not above the law.
We can no longer teach our children that.
