When disabled people are killed by family members or caregivers, true crime often reframes the violence as “mercy” or caregiver stress, shifting sympathy away from the victim.

Disability justice advocate @vilissathompson.bsky.social explains this narrative on B*tch, Listen.

Plumber came by - everything looks to be in working order.

I asked a lot of questions lol. The guy was sweet & explained in detail.

He suggested I alternate the faucet drips - have the kitchen drip for cold and the bathroom drip for hot. I can definitely do that.
Not me waking up to the hot water line being frozen.

At least I got a plumbing appt scheduled for today.

Never have I had the pipes freeze in the house. Didn’t freeze for the ice storm last week, but it’s the snow that did me in.

Cher went clean off script & forgot why she’s there. Just walked away without announcing the category & all.

My goodness. 🤣🤣

I took such a good pic of the snow this morning.

The sun knew what to do.

Happy that the snow has stopped, but glad that it’s pretty out here.

Happy Sunday.

Happy February.

Happy Black History Month. ✊🏾

As a wheelchair user, this fluffy snow is very different to push in than our typical wet snow.

Went out on the porch to snap pics - was easier to do.

My small wheels hate it though because the snow came off in layers. Very interesting observation.

Regardless - love the snow. Lol.

The Publish & Thrive writing course starts today & I’m amped.

This is the only “work” I’m doing this snowy weekend.

I'm glad he was released.

Can't believe this moment of history - arresting journalists for doing their job. My god.
Don Lemon speaks outside of the courtroom after release: "I have spent my entire life covering the news. I will not stop now ... I will not be silenced."

First speaking gig of the year is in the books!

Loved being around social workers. Love sharing space with people who want to understand disability from a colleague.

A great way to wrap up January. I'm happy.

Watching myself in the clips shared really shows me how much I love this new work. This podcast idea.

My passion shines through & that makes my soul happy.

This project has me excited.

Little unknown fact - I hate watching myself. Lol. But I’ve gotten better at not being critical.

I’m still thinking about this.
Disability justice advocate @vilissathompson.bsky.social explains how aging out of childhood programs leaves families fighting for the bare minimum.

Those systemic failures create desperation. And ignoring them lets ableist narratives prevail.
