This 🧵is not going to defend TF for the style of football Spurs are playing, but... I find the fan base assault on him to be naive.

The past 2 games the team has looked abysmal. But it's high time we hold the right people accountable and recognize this isn't some managerial switch to throw. 1/

I do not know if the way this #COYS team plays is because the coaching is timid or the players are garbage. Betancur, Palhinha, Richy, Odobert, Kudus, Porro/Spence all were poor today. Brentford just as bad, so we still earned a point. 78% passes, 36% long passes. We don't kick the ball very well.

I have watched high school games this year with more skill and tactical execution that whatever this was. #COYS
FT 0-0. I really hope that is the worst football match that takes place in 2026, in any league, at any level. If there's anything worse than that, something's gone wrong.

USMNT's 2002 WC run popped up on my YT feed and I forgot how we benefitted from some criminally awful officiating...

1) LD was a yard offside on the 2nd goal against Portugal

2) John O'Brien with the most handball-y handball penalty in the Mexico game... just a blatant miss by the ref

Update... sorry, but as a devoted #COYS fan, you just know if your team plays like frauds long enough, it catches up to you in the worst possible way.

#COYS vs. Palace today I think is a mixed bag. I think it also signified the issues with the team and how team-building should move forward. 🧵 1/

(Narrator: Holy crap he did it!)
Palace just took off their right back (Clyne) to stick Nketiah up top. If TF is paying attention he immediately brings on Tel or Odobert for Richy or RKM to exploit the space down the left.

(Narrator: He won’t.)

At this point either Villa is going to continue this charmed run all the way to the end of the season and inexplicably pull a Leicester, or fall apart over a 4-game stretch and drop points to the likes of Forest, Wolves, and Burnley and end up being exposed for the charlatans they are.

This offseason for #MNUFC... (salaries)

DSC out (~1m), Callendar in (400k)
Lod out (1.55m), Chantaclay in (1m)
Dotson out (625k), Stroud in (125k)
Roasales out (535k), no replacement yet

Club has cleared $1.5m in cap space, Chantaclay is close enough to pay off DP status with 250k GAM. 1/2

I mean, read this article and this guy has already bought a house in Argentina and was headed home. So what is the purpose of this, other than to hand the Revs $100k plus whatever percentage they are guaranteed for a sale to River/Velez? #MNUFC

This offseason is no longer Sam Presti "Hoading assets" and instead has become a game of whack-a-mole #MNUFC. KEA quickly running out of fingers to plug holes in the dike.

Fine. Now go get us a striker, a playmaker and a right back.
🇺🇸 BREAKING: Minnesota United is nearing a deal to acquire goalkeeper Drake Callender from Charlotte FC, per sources.

Callender, 28, won trophies with Inter Miami before being traded to Charlotte. Obviously a starting GK in this league... heads to Minnesota to be new starter.

I hope he is retired now, because there are probably at least 5000 footy players in NY who would be proud to have two-footed the mayor for no reason other than to be able to tell their bros that they two-footed the mayor.

@radiofreetom.bsky.social needs to read this article and then immediately publish 2500 words on @theatlantic.com about how hysterical it is. I'm sure the entire current staff of the Naval War College is on board.

Battleships have been tactically obsolete since, oh, the second year of World War II, so this tracks quite nicely.

If #MNUFC were willing to spend $1m+ to extend DSC and utilize GAM to pay him down, they should be able to offer a 1-year deal to Johnson and easily outbid DC United.

If they don't, one would hope they have a pretty clear plan in mind for GK other than "roll the dice."

Right?
After acquiring a striker (Tai Baribo) and center back (Sean Nealis), D.C. United now needs to add a starting keeper. Per sources, DCU pursuing veteran Sean Johnson, who had a good year on a bad Toronto team, which declined his option ($1 million+) but remained in talks.

#COYS I do think Brooks (a good referee) got the Ekitike goal wrong. But VAR isn't going to overturn it. VAR is going to ask Brooks if he saw Ekitike put his hands on Romero, and if he answers yes, then it's a judgment call on the field. It only goes to VAR if Brooks didn't see it. 1/

Another observation from today... though BJ would be ideal playing 10v11 on the counter. But he had a number of poor passes, and the through ball to Richy- which could have tied it- didn't lead Richy enough and allowed 3 Reds defenders to close Richy down.

This is why he doesn't play. #COYS

Cuti and Xavi's red cards were dumb no doubt, but there was passion and effort today, and the team was fearless. That's all the fans really want from the team. I think there will be more patience with the staff if the team can come out and play like that every week.
I do wonder if Frank will realize after this game that has the players to go at good teams and terrorize them. The crowd was incredible behind the players today, but because of the passion and aggression of the team.
