When public opinion shifted, the court usually followed. In their LA Times op ed, our co founder & chief data scientist @peterenns.bsky.social & Patrick Wohlfarth show that this pattern no longer holds under Chief Justice Roberts, marking a statistically rare & consequential break from past courts.
Contributor: When did the Supreme Court stop caring about public opinion?
The court has historically understood the perils of completely ignoring precedent and the will of the people. Chief Justice John Roberts is different.
