My favorite genre is dystopian fiction. My favorite part is always When the Bad Thing Happens. Ep7 of Paradise on Hulu has me in tears. Not because it’s scary. No. Because I miss even the illusion of capable authority.

When this is over, I need every CEO who bowed to Trump to say loudly and repeatedly “I was afraid of Trump and received XYZ threats if I didn’t comply” with such explicit detail and humility that someone plays them as a speaking role in the movie.

When this is over, I need every CEO who bowed to Trump to say loudly and repeatedly “I was afraid of Trump and received XYZ threats if I didn’t comply” with such explicit detail and humility that someone plays them as a speaking role in the movie.

I think most people are intuitively aware of this but something like the official White House account posting an “ASMR” video of shackled immigrants is not just cruel for its own sake, it’s intentional envelope-pushing to ramp up to desensitization over inhumane detention, camps, and deaths

a good part of me thinks that in addition to everything else, the reason they are scrubbing these stories is they do not want disadvantaged kids to believe they can aspire to anything other than their designated “black” or “hispanic” or “woman” job

The United States Military Academy has just eliminated all Cadet clubs and activities for POC. Most of these have existed for decades like the Society of Black Engineers. They were there when I was a Cadet in 1987. All of the religious ones remain. This isn’t DEI. It’s white Christian Nationalism.

Get familiar with the Hitler-Jugend (HJ) or Hitler Youth. They reported to Nazis on what was happening in their own families, schools, churches. Parents who refused to let their kids join the HJ could be sent to prison camps. (Swing Kids is a movie ab the resistance for light ref.) Get familiar.
