Part of a WIP for the "cozy" prompt. #BG3SapphicWeek inspired me to make some progress.

I love the dynamic I've ended up with for #Alfira and #Lakrissa over time. They're my absolute comfort couple. Writing Alfira always helps me work through anxiety.

Lakrissa laced her fingers with Alfira’s. “Break a leg, Alfie.” She leaned in and gave her wife a light parting kiss on the lips. “Right beside you, gorgeous,” she added, with a squeeze and a shake of their joined hands — a small jostle, at first from the wrist, that escalated into a pronounced, full-arm wiggle. The combined phrase and gesture had started as a piece of practical reassurance during their ordeal in the Shadow-Cursed Lands — a physical confirmation they were both still together and firmly planted on the ground. Now, the little ritual, either combined or separate, stood in as a shorthand for so many sentiments in their relationship: I agree with you but can’t say so in present company. I think what you’re doing is stupid, but I support you anyway. You’re way too tense; shake it out! I know you’re scared, but I’ve got your back. Alfira smiled — like a happy cat by the fire, Lakrissa noted with affection — as she reciprocated the squeeze, until Lakrissa’s pronounced shake sent her giggling. “Okay, okay!” Alfira pleaded through laughter. “Right beside you, gorgeous!” Lakrissa could feel Alfira’s nerves ease in the kiss she returned before undoing their fingers and stepping out from behind the proscenium arch. Ultimately, Lakrissa had known everything would turn out all right. All the same, it was not only a joy but a relief to hear the applause of hundreds of people and watch how Alfira’s eyes lit up in turn, the last traces of her anxiety melting away. Alfira always sparkled on stage, and tonight, under the warm glow of Dancing Lights, it was no different.
