In 1971, the alleged crisis in science was put in a historical perspective. I find it interesting how long and repetitive the discourse has been.

(To be sure, I am not saying science(s) are in no trouble, I leave that to wiser people to discuss.)

My background is in philosophy, and it has been useful in rather different work projects, generally speaking.

Now, in another project, it comes up again

"Our ongoing research program on digital nomadism informs 𝐚 𝐇𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 and an envisioning of the future(s) of knowledge work."

On the Function and Nature of Historical Counterfactuals. Clarifying Confusions
Abstract In this article, I analyze historical counterfactuals. Historical counterfactuals are conditional statements in which the antecedent refers to some change in the past. We ask what would have ...

Plenty of new followers maybe start producing some content.

Now that I work on more practical topics, I find philosophy extremely useful.

Still, much of it looks like this:

Endless repetition of abstract points

It's a Wonderful Life

Again, the best introduction to counterfactuals is to be watched.

Next year, same organisation but new challenges.

Drifting away from where I started as an academic and, although I hate uncertainty (oh the irony as I am a futurist now), life is an adventure.

Philosophy. Uncertainty. Story. Futures Research. Path.

Today I was given the (impossible) task to further revise a paper of mine. My tone was arrogant, they say. I make mistakes, they say, because I have not read decades old book with German language.

Spoiler: I am not able to read German. English and Swedish were mandatory, and now it backfires...

Our new (preprint) paper proposes a "dual scenario" approach to AI futures. Just as atomic tech's impact depended on its 1940s emergence, we argue AI's trajectory will be shaped by BOTH its capabilities AND when/where it develops.

It occurred to me that life is like darts. Either you count *down* from 501 to 0, or you *gather* points from 0 to 501.

Same process, but different conceptualization.

Either you try to get things out of your desk or you consider progress, accumulation, and achievement.

That's life.

You can run but never hide.

There is no strategy without foresight.

Universities have strategies.

Ergo: Universities need strategic foresight.

Strategy: A comprehensive plan designed to achieve specific objectives.

Hi,

If you see this, react in one way or another (you can put your topics of interest in answers etc.).

I am not seeking any special spotlight, I am just curious what is the real reach of this platform. Is it relevant even if everyone seems to be here now.
