It has been wild to see what were always the two most paranoid pro-Second Amendment scenarios—the government snatching people away and sending occupying armies into communities—literally happen this year, to the delight of conservatives
There can’t be any gun restrictions because we have to protect against federal government tyranny, and if kids get shot we just have to live with it. Also the President can send troops to cities because the federal government can do whatever it wants. These two ideas are consistent and reasonable.

Yeah, Florida did that. People couldn't even find out how much they owed. Feature, not a bug, I guess. Wisconsin isn't Florida so far though.

popular anti-fascism as taxpayer revolt...might have some legs
Question for Mike Flood: With $450 million being allocated to Alligator Alcatraz, and ICE burning through $8.4 million a day to illegally detain people—How much does it cost for fascism? How much do the tax payers have to pay for a fascist country?

What’s the difference between Tim Scott and Strom Thurmond?

One of them votes to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act. The other is Tim Scott.

I am so confused. Isn't the current Mayor the one who should be rattled?
It's really weird to demand accountability from a NYC mayoral candidate for a deadly NYC shooting rather than the current NYC mayor, an ex-cop who campaigned on a "tough on crime" platform and promptly got indicted for crimes

Think about what the GOP is revealing with their attempt to suddenly change the Congressional maps: they know their agenda is so unpopular that they're going to lose unless something changes.

Of course, what they should be changing is their policies, not the maps.

See you soon, NYC.

Bove reported favorably out of Committee in straight party line vote, 12-10. A new nadir for the R Judiciary Committee and a disgusting result--rewarding someone who jumped to sacrifice the rule of law & violate his oath to serve a tyrant and then lied about it. Wretched, even by current standards.

When you combine these eight features of the current mass deportation regime—and the two tracks to massively scale it up—what you get is an enormous, faceless government bureaucracy that dehumanizes all involved (detainees and agents alike), eliminates incentives to act humanely,

Social Security Administration sends misleading email lauding Trump's new tax cuts law
The emails say nearly 9 in 10 Social Security beneficiaries won't pay income taxes on their benefits in the future. But the Trump tax law did not directly address Social Security.
