Έβρος: Δύο μετανάστες νεκροί κοντά στο Διδυμότειχο
Δύο μετανάστες έχασαν τη ζωή τους στην περιοχή του Διδυμοτείχου στον Έβρο, υπό συνθήκες που παραπέμπουν σε απόπειρα διάσχισης του ποταμού. Πρόκειται για άνδρες ηλικίας περίπου 30 έως 40 ετών, η υπηκοότητα των οποίων παραμένει άγνωστη.

Σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες, οι δύο άνδρες εντοπίστηκαν σε παρέβρια περιοχή, όπου επικρατούσαν ιδιαίτερα χαμηλές θερμοκρασίες. Μεταφέρθηκαν λίγο μετά τα μεσάνυχτα στο νοσοκομείο χωρίς τις αισθήσεις τους. Ο ένας διακομίστηκε ήδη νεκρός, ενώ ο δεύτερος παρουσίασε αρχικά σημεία ζωής, ωστόσο κατέληξε παρά τις προσπάθειες των γιατρών.
Οι ακριβείς συνθήκες υπό τις οποίες βρέθηκαν δεν έχουν γίνει ακόμη γνωστές. Για την υπόθεση έχει ενημερωθεί η αστυνομία, ενώ αναμένεται η διενέργεια νεκροψίας-νεκροτομής προκειμένου να προσδιοριστούν τα ακριβή αίτια θανάτου.
Σύμφωνα με τις πρώτες εκτιμήσεις, οι δύο άνδρες φέρεται να επιχείρησαν να περάσουν τον ποταμό Έβρο, η στάθμη του οποίου παραμένει ιδιαίτερα υψηλή, φτάνοντας περίπου τα έξι μέτρα. Οι καιρικές συνθήκες στην περιοχή είναι χειμερινές, με ορμητικά νερά, γεγονός που καθιστά τη διέλευση εξαιρετικά επικίνδυνη.
