The oak seedlings I planted three years ago should start bearing acorns in about 37 years. You're welcome, future squirrels.
A hollow dullard.
Worth stepping back and remembering that for all his talk of "saving humanity" and "making us an interplanetary species," the only thing Elon Musk ever really *does* is pursue further unfathomable amounts of money, something he already has in unprecedented quantities. A hollow dullard.
Musk apparently thinks he is owed up to $134 billion from OpenAI? This is all after he (don't forget) failed to convince Sam Altman et al to make OpenAI part of Tesla, and after he poached top talent, Andrej Karpathy, from OpenAI over to Tesla, too. www.cnbc.com/2026/01/17/m...

That's why I think Saruman is the better match, and he also was influenced by Wormtongue.

Calling Spiderman! Get this gigantic cat out of our city.

I ran across this piece today on Bluesky and found it brilliant.

'Staring over the edge': South Carolina measles outbreak doubles in a week
More than 500 people are in a 21-day quarantine and about 200 are "actively infected." The largest outbreak currently in the U.S. has spread to at least three other states.

I wonder why anyone would be "astounded" by the speed of its spread, as it's the most contagious virus known.

I saw this coming, but because of personal responsibilities here, was not able to take off. At least I got to visit some magnificent places here in the US.

He looks like a plate of gristle.

It also fits well with a very thoughtful piece about the role of humiliation that I just reposted. It seems inevitable that we will be shunned, which only bothers me in terms of maybe never being welcome in the beautiful places I've long wanted to visit.

Great analysis, very thought provoking.

This is a very good piece indeed.

The “politics of humiliation” has a lot of explanatory value.
indeed, it's not just that fascism is responding to a different set of concerns than socialism, it's often responding to the *opposite* impulses

The Politics of Humiliation
The politics of humiliation has moved to the center of the reactionary project under Trump II.

I wish that every other nation would jump to the chase and exclude us from every civilized endeavor immediately. When the vapid airheads of America see their international sports participation cut off, maybe they'll wake up.

I've planted a few of them here, but they are barely teenagers yet.

I have long believed that trump was put in place to destroy the US from within, and he's doing it more effectively than anyone would have predicted.

Trump is more of a Saruman type, but not as clever. He'll be driven out when the very trees are angered enough to walk abroad and tear up his evil works. Yeah, then he'll turn up in the Shire with Stephen Miller at his heels.
