The voices of Vancouver's diverse communities are important & when they are overlooked or silenced, decisions get made in bad faith. It's not FIFA or busy scheduling — that's a diversion.

Breaking news from @ctvnewsvancouver.bsky.social that 30 non-union employees at CoV were fired today is an alarming signal of what ABC’s “Zero Means Zero’’ budget truly means for our city.

It is actively defunding core city services. Vancouver deserves transparency.

Advisory committees were to run until Nov 2026. Now ABC wants to shut down 10 early - renters, seniors, equity, women, arts, disability, food, transport.

This is targeted, strategic & wrong.

Both visible & invisible disabilities are equally valid & need our respect and support.

Whether it's mobility aids or working through chronic pain or adapting systems to work with ADHD or Autism, take time to remember that everyone's struggle is unique and that compassion can go a long way.

His defense of "thorough budget presentation" suggested councillors were afforded multiple rounds of questions. In fact, critical councillors were given only two 5min blocks for questions and answers on 90 slide, 23p, $2.4b budget before ABC cut us off
Listening to Ken Sim’s @cbcstephenquinn.bsky.social interview and it’s kind of surprising his team doesn’t prepare him better for this tough interviewer.

He says the police board has said no to some budget asks and the police have cut back their spending - but can’t name examples. #vanpoli
