Continuing with the single The Road To Hell from 1989. A monumental track it is! And on the b-side there's the so-called French version of Josephine, which is imo the second best version of this song! Makes me want to dance 😁

I already mentioned the song in my previous post, but I'm listening to it again!
Working On It was released as a single in 1989 with the beautiful One Golden Rule as the B-Side.

Starting with New Light Through Old Windows from 1988 today.
An album of re-recordings with the versions that get played on the radio even today.
While I prefer most of the original versions, this is still very good. A standout is the rocking Working On It, which is a new song.

Next up is Dancing With Strangers from 1987. Chris Rea, in my opinion, created a masterpiece with this one! Great from start to finish, it's hard to pick favourites here. I'd say I Can't Dance To That, Windy Town, Gonna Buy Me A Hat, Que Sera and Loving You Again stand out to me.

Next up is a compilation: Herzklopfen, released in 1986.
A solid collection of songs! What's cool: it contains album versions instead of single edits!
I'm not going to single out songs here, all but two songs are from albums I already listened to and wrote something about.

On The Beach by Chris Rea, released in 1986.
This album's name represents what's on it. It's Rea's chill-oit album imo.
Some nice songs on here. Favourites for me are the title track, Giverny, It's All Gone (my favourite!), Hello Friend and Auf Immer und Ewig.

Next up is a modern classical piece!
#NowSpinning Star's End by David Bedford released in 1974, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra featuring guitar parts by Mike Oldfield

Starting the first Monday of the year with one of the very few live albums I like!
#NowSpinning Blaine L. Reininger - Live In Brussels 02/1986 released in (who guessed it) 1986. I played this album to death as a teen and still love it so much!

Decided against doing weekly listening charts for now... what in the beginning was pretty fun feels more like a chore now

Happy new year folks!

My music will be removed from streaming in a few days. Only the last few releases managed by Liminal Dread will stay up.
I just can't afford to keep it all up. Also I feel pretty relieved after that decision, so it was definitely right to do it.

And another single. On The Beach from 1986.
This contains the so-called Special Remix of this song.
Also it has an interesting B-Side called If Anybody Asks you, which is some kind of Dub thing with a really heavy bass.
December 30, 2025 at 7:02 PM
Next is Shamrock Diaries from 1985. His commercial breakthrough. And what an album it is! This is close to being perfect. It sounds huge!
Favourites are: Steel River, Stainsby Girls, Josephine, Stone and the mighty Hired Gun.

Continuing my Chris Rea deep dive today with the single Josephine from 1985.
This version is my favourite of all versions of this song and my favourite Chris Rea song in general (next to It's All Gone).
Also the B-Side called Dancing Shoes is definitely worth listening too!

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, or Alice in Chains.

This is and always will be my favourite Amorphis album, so this definitely goes here!

Just got my Christmas present today! A few days late, but it's here: a custom hand-made guitar strap!
My partner really surprised me with that. Look at all these details and references 👀

Christmas has been merry indeed! We are amazed and proud to see that our single has raised a whopping $127.66, which has been donated to World Central Kitchen!

Thank you all for contributing and have a happy new year!

Next up is Wired To The Moon from 1984. Highlights are Bombollini, Ace Of Hearts, Winning and the title track for me
December 28, 2025 at 8:35 PM
Continuing with the album Water Sign from 1983.
It's more synth driven at times than most of his other music, but it actually works! Highlights for me are Deep Water, Candles, Let It Loose (what a banger!), I Can Hear Your Heartbeat and Out Of The Darkness
December 28, 2025 at 7:45 PM
Starting my Chris Rea dive with the single Diamonds from 1979.
It's different from what he later became famous for, but it's certainly a banger!
