Don't know why it took me a month to find out, but if anyone wants to see how GenAI can be adopted meaningfully (hallucinations and all) in video art they should take a look at Igorrr's clip for ADHD. Not going to spoil it but H does not stand for what you think it does youtu.be/TGIvO4eh190?...

A concert with a full orchestra, and a never seen before in these parts of the world queue going around the block, and then some, to get in. This is going to be interesting

Ah, yes, well known romantic movie Commando just came up on TV. Somebody woke up and chose violence for Valentine's Day

Also, why does this movie come with a kickass soundtrack?

In a work event with a theme of GenAI, and I never had to resist the urge to put the Hicks et al paper from last year on the Frankfurtian-inflected analysis of the technological paradigm vis-à-vis up on the screen and then walk away

Just had my annual incident of being called cynical by another faculty member. And that after simply pointing out that the reason we have two separate systems for the same purpose is simply because they are run by two different teams that don't talk to each other. Conway's Law anyone?

Well, either an increasing portion of our students are getting very creative in their dog-ate-my-homework stories or traveling back to homeland for holidays has become truly cursed this time around. Anyone else also has horror stories in their mailbox, or is it only me?

Late one night In 1985, a phone company suddenly found its network overwhelmed by a series of rapid, random calls.

These were traced back to a single office building that contained two Coke machines. /1

Reading the Illuminations collection by Alan Moore and I was wondering where all this cheekiness comes from in Location, location, location (IFYKYK). And then I remembered the Jack B. Quick strips in Tomorrow Stories, and yeah, it's obvious. See Exhibit A

Course evaluation time, when you get "thank you for this course, I realized this is what I want to do for a living" and "your mandatory lab schedule is interfering with my work schedule and it sucks" just two comments away from each other. All to be taken on board but with a grain of salt, I guess
