Airstrikes don’t “test” a ceasefire. They break a ceasefire. Language isn’t that hard, media. Neither is professionalism and bravery.

Why do police still ask “Do you know how fast you were going?” when they already have radar?

MotorBiscuit featured @pauldoroshenko.com breaking down the real reason behind the question — and why your answer matters more than you think.

Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman was a friend who worked with Gabby to stop gun violence. We’re thinking of her children, who've now lost both their parents, and we’re praying for Sen. Hoffman and his wife, who are still fighting for their lives.

Stay strong.

As we struggle to make sense of the Trump resurrection and supporters of Poilievre, words seem to fail us.

“Fascism,” “authoritarianism” and “populism” are bandied about, but they fail to adequately reflect how conservatives in North America seek and hold power. @crof.bsky.social writes.

Today, we honor the bravery and sacrifice of those who, 60 years ago, marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, risking everything for the right to vote and the promise of true freedom. Their courage paved the way, and it’s on us to keep pushing forward.

👇 An excellent summary of Trump and Musk's backstories.
It’s striking how similar Trump and Elon Musk actually are. Both got money from dad & started on 3rd base, both were more ruthless than intelligent, & both had fake and manufactured reputations, one thru a TV show & the other thru spin that he was “the real Tony Stark“ when he never built anything.

Last year, the U.S. government debated then followed through on banning TikTok.

They said an app owned by someone close to an autocratic leader might be used as propaganda.

From a Canadian perspective, these concerns apply to the app formerly known as Twitter, writes @djclimenhaga.bsky.social.

Canadian PM, Justin Trudeau, in a masterclass speech on how to speak to a bully. Well said, Justin. Doubt Donald is listening, but we are. Australians stand with Canadians 🇦🇺🇨🇦.
You can’t overstate the historic importance of today’s speech to both American and Canadian citizens by Canada’s Prime Minister.

Please watch it and share it wherever you live, but especially if you’re in the United States. You need to know what Trump is doing, and why. youtu.be/wz_42pckM7w

It’s been pointed out for a long time how inappropriate it is to call U.S. citizens “Americans” since every nation in North and South America has the same claim to that word. But I think many, including me, went along with it out of respect.

Is that still warranted?

Trump likes renaming things…

No, the meeting did not go badly for Ukraine. It exposed in the most undeniable, unequivocal way possible the pro-Putin commitments of the president and vice president. That was information Americans and allies needed to have clear before them.

Wow.
I already looked at Zelenskyy as a hero for standing up to Putin's invasion. Even more today watching him stand firm and speak reality, while Trump & Vance shout at him, and shit on him publicly like playground bullies.
Then Trump PRAISES Putin openly while Vance nods like a dimwit.
Grotesque!

Fact check: the CAD has dropped 34% from the 2011 peak, but just 4% of that drop happened under Trudeau. The big drop happened under Harper.
