This doesn't sit right with me. Two "student reporters" at Aalto University in #Finland ask President Stubb a question he won't like, and then get manhandled by police, told by one of Stubb's angry security guards they'll go to jail, and then get fined? Journalism is not a crime.

Palestiinaa tukevat aktivistit ovat pyrkineet murtamaan Gazan merisaartoa vuodesta 2010 lähtien. Israelin toimet tai lausunnot molemmin puolin eivät siksi yllättäneet.

Onpa harvinaisen typerä juttu. Lääkkeiden, asianmukaisen ravinnon ja lakiavun saaminen pidätettynä on paljon vaikeampaa kuin huutamisen, haukkujen, jne. myös Suomessa ja muualla Euroopassa. Toimittajan on oltava poikkeuksellisen kuistilla epäilläkseen aktivistien lausuntoja.

So it seems that bike lanes are actually, after all, bad for the environment. Not the news I wanted to hear (unless this is just strategic messaging)
Love it how Thompson in The Poverty of Theory accuses Althusser in one breath for being elitist, inaccessible and making no sense at all as well as being too easy to understand and only saying self-evident stuff that the uneducated will buy into.

Minusta kuulostaa usein siltä, että kun penätään vasemmistolaista turvallisuuden, sodan tai militarismin analyysiä (ikään kuin tästä ei olisi vuosisataista perinnettä), niin oikeastaan penätään tapoja oikeuttaa hegemoniset sodan, turvallisuuden ja militarismin käytännöt vasemmistolaisittain.

Trump (and the GOP) are protecting the trillions of assets held by their fossil-fuel cronies, which would be utterly devalued if we decarbonized.

One of the lessons power's reaction to both genocide in Palestine and climate change has, again, tought us is the futility of speaking truth to power. No amount of truth telling bothers it. The only point of reference power acknowledges is external reference to its own sources.
