I’m approaching 50 and never seen Ferris Bueller’s Day off. I’ve seen all the 80s flicks but never that one, then kept not-seeing it just to hear people exclaim “you’ve never seen Ferris Bueller’s Day Off???” I inexplicably cherish this uniqueness over seeing the movie. It’s my one troll.

The best slept on feature of DnDBeyond is the pronunciation icon next to monster names for the 2014 Monster Manual. I wish we had these for everything. Without this I would not realize “Sahuagin” sounds like “Hooligan” and not saw-hway-jin (I was way off).

Edgar Wright is usually great but the new Running Man is a hot mess. But I followed it up with Predator Badlands a few days later and that was the perfect popcorn movie. Simple. Fun. Knew what it was trying to do and did it. It was also under 2 hours which is such a bonus these days.

@wotc-news.bsky.social I have a request, can we sunset the format in adventures where you mention skill checks with the ability first? Like saying “must make a DC 13 Wisdom (Survival) check”. Can we just say “DC 13 Survival check?” I’m pretty sure it’s how many of us DMs write it down anyway.

The 10 year old kid at the beginning of our DnD game just now: "So, you guys hear the new Pope just dropped?"

I don't think that, but I do fear we're going to lose this world once Andor is done, and I want to see more stories told in this world, or, at least, in this way. It's totally unique to the other the shows and films in both tone and style. I hope something else is created in a similar vein.

OMG, I just gave the beholder of our D&D game a corny accent where he says "bro" all the time and the kids in the group immediately dubbed him "the broholder." He is now transitioning into an NPC.

Listening to Afterburner, I think you could make an argument for it being an industrial album that was ahead of its time.

As much as I’m looking forward to Andor Season 2, I think I might be looking forward to @mattcolville.bsky.social takes on it just as much.

You’re not the boss of me.

Yeah, the click bait is real. But... you'll never believe what they do next!

Does anyone else feel like there's nothing wrong with the world that couldn't be fixed by a new Fugazi album? I feel like we really need a new Fugazi album. Or just a tour would be great. Thanks for attending my TED talk.

Also, there was a surreal moment when we were evacuating that I was running around taking pictures of things for insurance and kept thinking I was taking pictures of “Things we lost in the fire” and your album kept coming up in my head.

Oh nice! Definitely checking these out.

My players could call me out on this so, so often.
I often question the logistics of dungeon ecology.

Reading about her prescience now. I’ll check it out. I live near Pasadena and had to evacuate so this feels spot on for me right now. Thanks.

I haven’t used PF’s Nexus but I imagine it’s a similar thing. If @hellomcdm.bsky.social can get the Draw Steel VTT up relatively close to following launch, I think it will have a big impact on adoption.
January 25, 2025 at 9:11 PM
I think @mattcolville.bsky.social has the right idea by getting a VTT up and running to support his new game. TTRPGs require people to play with, and making a platform that’s easy to use and super accessible is the right strategy to get there.
January 25, 2025 at 9:11 PM
I prefer playing DnD on Beyond because it’s just easier to me. I run games for 9 year olds online and they can pick it up real fast.
January 25, 2025 at 9:11 PM
Don’t get me wrong. VTTs like Roll20 are great, but they are a great platform for playing “many” games. There are lots of allowances being made in the UX to create a fluid platform that can apply to any TTRPG.
January 25, 2025 at 9:11 PM
There are ALOT of promising TTRPGs coming out this year. The reason I think #DrawSteel has an (ahem) edge is the VTT angle. If they can successfully launch a VTT custom built for their game I think they will have cornered a very large market that’s been widely ignored.

Ok hear me out. Taylor Kitsch is the star of American Primeval but all I remember of him is starring in John Carter of Mars so I’m watching AP like it’s a rugged sequel to JC and it actually kind of works? #AmericanPrimeval

The other night I discovered “Vorpal” is not a scrabble word and I feel betrayed by my childhood. #DnD

Look, this is all happening too fast. I still can’t get my Aibo to fetch.
