The sky came down to touch my feet
Lake Michigan at sunset. The sun has already gone past the horizon, and the sky near horizon is ablaze in orange. Most of the sky is overcast is gray clouds which are lit below by the sun's red light. The water and the beach are both dark, but at their meeting when a wave pulls back into a thin sheet the sky's reflection shines bright in a gradient that ranges from orange to an almost magenta red

It was a foggy day at the beach the other day
There is a very thin fog on the beach at lake Michigan. There are piles of ice stained by sand along the edge of the lake, and dark trees cover the dunes to the left. Looking down the beach there is a light fog in the distance. The sky is overcast. The ice along lake Michigan's edges is stained brown with sand blown by the wind and water flows through a break in the barrier. Small crashing waves push chunks of ice onto shore.

My first divination of the year. Numbers 31, 02, 26. Work and the World are sitting on Money but with no Luck or Love in sight.
A set of homemade dice for divination. They are made from popsicle sticks and d6 wooden blocks with numbers written with sharpie. There is a pair of spades and diamonds, and there is a star, a house, and a circle also visible. There are pairs corresponding to (3,1) (0,2) (2,6). The word no is face up, I forgot to ask a yes or no question but we can assume that means it will not be a good year.

I went to Holland on Christmas eve
Looking at the red lighthouse in Holland from across the channel. There is a blue railing on top of the corrugated walls of the river. There are benches in the sand where people sit to watch the icebergs float past in winter and the boats in summer. The sky is overcast and the water's dark surface is broken by some small sheets of ice. Looking down at some ice in the water. There are some small solid chunks of ice next to a large triangular sheet of ice that is marbled with bubbles like a piece of meat or the surface of Jupiter. A larger sheet of ice with the same strange pattern but more melted. It is also triangular. More icebergs floating in the Holland River, most of them are a smooth white or gray color but one square has the bubbly streaky pattern.

Some Christmas cactus
Wrinkled prickly pear cactus laying on the ground under a few scattered brown leaves. The cactus is pale green with some white needles. More cacti which are lying flat on the ground next to clumps of green moss.

The bark on this apple tree is all kinds of colors
Multiple thick twisting branches on an apple tree. The bark is completely covered in colorful lichen ranging from green to yellow. The thick bark of this tree is encrusted in orange lichen. This small patch of bark is a mix of pale green and yellow and gray. More cracked bark with some patches and specks of orange and yellow.

Are those green wood chips some kind of fungus or is it like, a chemical or something?
A close up of those ball shaped mushrooms. More of those mushrooms growing on old rotting wood in that same area These mushrooms look like they have been chewed on by some small creature like a slug or mouse. Some pieces of broken wood that are a copper green color.

Long overdue for a new name with the changing seasons

I took a picture of a cormorant the other day but there's no way you'll be able to see it

I should have stayed to watch the whole sunset because it continued looking beautiful in my rear view mirror but I was happy to be home before dark.

The water was warmer but the air was colder today

The other day I went to the beach and was so surprised when it was too cold to swim but the wind changed and now it's warm again
A hazy day at the beach. The sun is orange behind smoke. Lake Michigan is calm with a silvery color that turns bronze underneath the sun. The water looks nice but I could only stand in it for about 5 minutes, probably less. A somewhat stormy day at the beach. A band of dark clouds is blowing in over the lake. The high clouds have stripes across their leading edge while smaller dark puffy clouds ride below them, but light shines in the sky behind this line of clouds. Lake Michigan is blue and a wave is curling before it crashes on shore. A wave is now crashing on the beach. There is a white pole in the water that demarcates the swimming area. The waves were fun, only a couple feet and spaced apart and not too choppy so I could float on my back. There is orange light filling the sky near the horizon but the rest of the sky is full of dark clouds. More dark clouds over lake Michigan. The sky only got more beautiful from here. I was swimming for that tho so you get no pictures, but I'm definitely a small dot in the back of a lot of selfies. The band of high dark clouds blew over and the rest of the clouds got torn apart like when you stretch cotton balls.

Can you imagine a place where the land and the sea and the sky are all the same color?
