Didn't do a whooole lot of modding this year, but in contrast, I did feel like I achieved alot in my personal life, finishing uni and getting my first job in the games' industry :)

I've been working on a little mountain generator in unity over the last few days! Super happy with where I am atm with such little time, especially considering I had to make a custom terrain system that has the specific features I need #gamedev #unity3D #indiedev

I think a lot of the discussion around AI isn't specific enough or informed enough, and that's why this piece from @edmondtran.bsky.social is so useful and important. These are actual concept artists spelling out in clear, unambiguous terms why Gen-AI is not only unhelpful, it's a nuisance.
We spoke to a dozen professional concept artists who are currently or have previously worked in game development about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs any easier.

Zero said it did. Most said it made things harder.

Using genAI for concept art is so fucking stupid because like... that's where you get the cool shit. Thats the blue sky phase where artists make pieces of art that will be seen by a teenager later and change their life forever. Why would you want to start from mediocre. Why would you do that.
