Making another attempt to read the "Wheel of Time" series. didn't make it very far when last I tried it a few years ago. Entire chapters devoted to what everyone is having for dinner...maybe Reader's Digest should do a condensed version.

Seattle Opera production of "The Magic Flute" looks pretty good, its the first one since "Das Rheingold" that i've really looked forward to seeing. Houston Grand Opera and NY Metropolitan Opera have raised my expectations...apparently too high.

The Congress is supposed to be a check on the power of the President...not his rubber stamp. Its literally why we have three branches of government.
