What is entanglement? Itamar Pittowsky claimed that these results brought us right to the precipice of logical contradiction--but not over. Abner Shimoney described it as a piece of "experimental metaphysics." I'm a nobody, but I think entanglement is the most interesting thing ever discovered.

it's incredible how different mathematician QFT is from physicist QFT

Does anyone have a nice reference for how quasi-particle states are defined in condensed matter physics? I think it would be helpful to me. It's easy to imagine the normal modes of lattice vibration, but I know that these are not the particle states.

okay i do actually know why and the answer is basically just depression
why does someone who's almost 30 not know what the Higgs mechanism is yet
can't help but feel bad about the stuff I should (and could) know by now but don't

Only now understood that determinism is in tension with a desirable sort of "anti-last-tuesdayism."

Pick an inextensible spacelike 3-surface; its maximal cauchy development falls short of the whole diagram. If that was all, we'd wonder (with Lucretius) where our spear goes when thrown off the map.
depending on how you extend the spacetime, go other places

did people also talk in this way about the classical EM fields? its bizarre.

alt + 0151 makes an m-dash.
This is exactly what corruption looks like: power used as a commodity, war treated as a profit center, and human lives reduced to line items. This isn't leadership or strategy-it' pay-to-play imperialism, and it's indefensible.

Tenet includes this great shot of a building exploding in both temporal directions, but Nolan should have extrapolated the logic a bit more. At the end of the movie the Protagonist should have shrunk back into a baby and gone up into another woman's womb.

This is what Lovecraft was on about in the Dreams in the Witch House
PS2: I also have a video of a geodesic observer, essentially the middle vertical line in the diagram, who remains perpetually between the inner and outer horizons, and sees the Kerr geometry as a pulsating phenomenon, alternating between BH and WH regions. Sadly, many computation artifacts here:
