Today: Fewer Kittiwakes were present on the Railway Bridge on Newcastle Quayside; whilst at least two dozen were resting on the lower reaches of the High-Level Bridge. The colony on Queen Street was filled with activity, #TyneKittiwakes

At least 50/60 Kittiwake rafting on the sea off Mumbles Pier this morning. All quiet until their calls started to build and the whole flock took to the air, whirling around the old lifeboat station and alighting on what remains of the nesting platforms. #birdingWales #UKWildlife #birds

Fewer Kittiwakes were present this afternoon, compared to our visit on Wednesday earlier in the week. The Baltic and Tyne Bridge Colonies were far less busy; whilst Queen Street and the Railway Bridge were canny busy, with pairs busy preening and courting.

I was down on the quayside this evening checking in on Kittiwakes. I think a lot more pairs are returning so far earlier than last 2 yrs. No Kittiwake hotels on bridge, but plenty of scaffolding under bridge etc they could use. The chorus of the Kittiwakes is so "Fan-dabi-dozi". seal swimming

I am working out of a public library and there are a good number of people who seem to be on hard times using the facilities for various reasons like job searching, entertainment, charging peripherals, using the bathroom, etc., and I am struck by how important it is that libraries continue to exist

It was expected the Kittiwake hotels would move over to the n side for the '25 season. No sign of this happening. Have they changed their minds? Fewer pairs nested on the Gateshead side last year where work was happening, but birds used the scaffolding lower down instead.

I already thought Wild Boar were present across southern England; also when surveying brown bears in Northern Greece we were told that the boars were much more dangerous than the bears as they were more aggressive - any experts know if they actually are or not?
