*NEW STUDY ALERT* We found no real evidence of increased mortality among people with cancer due to smoke exposure from the Hazelwood coal mine fire. Of course, this doesn't totally rule out an effect (on a larger scale, it may be detectable), but if there is one, it's probably small.

Do I smell burnt toast? Could I draw a clock if ask? Is the lampshade looking slightly off? Because I really need to make sure I'm not having some sort of cerebrovascular event when I read this.

lol, I also bought a home at rock bottom interest rates during the pandemic. Fortunately (I guess?), I live in Australia where most mortgages are variable and fixed-rates last at most 5 years, so no one really gets stuck in the golden handcuffs for long.
Paying a COVID-era mortgage rate is the devil’s bargain version of the people that bought homes in the early 2010s.

I no longer live in the U.S. so take my position with a grain of salt. I’ve been arguing for blue state secession since before Trump won in 2024. The biggest pushback I get is “do you want Civil War? Because that will cause Civil War.”
