Spent some time this weekend studying photos of Koplik spots (an early intraoral sign of measles). I've never seen them in 32 years of dental practice, but it seems less likely that my streak will continue. Many unvaccinated kids in my practice and an exposure in the area.

Had a great discussion with smart and thoughtful people this weekend about the ethics of “intellectual integrity,” in a world where support can be found for any opinion. How do you define and/or practice intellectual integrity?

Last week my incredible mom turned 84! Her regular schedule includes water aerobics, playing bridge, taking pics in the cemetery for Find a Grave (3K+ contributions), and volunteering at church. ❤️ This week, she and my dad celebrate their 61st anniversary. 🫶🏼

The Catalog of 4 am Worries, passed down through the generations
Word of the Day is ‘uhtcearu’ [ucht-kay-aru, with the 'ch' as in the Scottish ‘loch']:

Old English for ‘the sorrow before dawn', when you lie awake in the darkness and worries crowd your mind.

President Jimmy Carter leaves a legacy unlike any other.

Ceaseless in his service, unbending in his dignity, and revered for his commitment to our common humanity.

He fought the good fight and kept the faith — and now he has finished his race.

May his memory be an inspiration.

2) airports
