"Een kort Beskriffning uppå Trenne Resor och Peregrinationer sampt Konungarijket Japan" (1667). Defekt band, hårt skuren, solkig, marginalskador, titeln och två blad i faksimil – men ändå intressant, eftersom det är Kankels första Visingsborgstryck. Ett fint nytt band kommer att göra stor skillnad.

I’m revising my graduate seminar on medieval manuscripts and was wracking my brain trying to think of an enticing short reading to intro my students to a case study in codicology before remembering that I co-edited a journal issue devoted to the topic. Enjoy!

Ibland tycks jag ha svårt att komma ihåg folks ansikten som jag inte känner väl eller träffar ofta. Jag minns liksom ett ungefärligt utseende, men blandar ihop det med andra. Om jag däremot istället tänker mig rösten, så ser jag också ansiktet.

Årets första böcker hemma, bland annat en isländsk andaktsbok som jag köpte huvudsakligen för fragmenten som skymtade i pärmen. (Island får mig förresten att tänka på Nordistnörd – hoppas att allt står väl till med henne.)

Fick nyss reda på att en gammal väninna till min mor gått bort för en dryg vecka sedan. Det var tyvärr länge sedan jag själv träffade henne, men i min barndom umgicks hon mycket med familjen, var med på sommarlov och resor och sådant.
