re: minsang guys who both have rich inner worlds. they're both in their own bubble-this looks different for them because they've different personalities, yet the bubble is still there, trust-and it takes a while to realise there's people who won't pop it but rather will join in. the bubble metaphor is getting out of hand. i mean i see them as having very distinct personalities that can match others well but tend to isolate them at times. simultaneously, when they're together and in on a joke for example, they're a well-oiled machine; they just know how to fall in step with each other. so things that yesang does that people see as weird, and things mingi does that are seen as weird, to each other, oftentimes, are just lovable and worth joining. they let each other be weird. it's not always the case, but they really match elo so well it boggles my mind.

i have no self control but i quite like this minsang blurb and the Council had a good (traumatized) reaction so,

"In another life, do you think this would have turned out differently?" "What do you mean?" Hongjoong asks, against better judgement. It's never good when they speak so soon after fighting. The fights take it out of him, make him feel too bad. He should lick his own wounds, but ends up licking everyone's. When they've been drinking, it's even worse. It's his fault for joining Wooyoung on the balcony. Maybe, in some small part of him, he was seeking the punishment. Hongjoong doesn't know. He doesn't know what he wants from any of it anymore: Wooyoung, success, the panopticon of fame, spending more time on a plane with his body hurting than on solid, familiar ground. The higher they climb, the more lost he gets. "I feel like I'm looking down the barrel of a gun, hyung," Wooyoung says, wet. "It's pointing right at me." He takes a steadying breath, cigarette between his lips, wraps himself up tighter. He's not dressed for the weather. Neither of them are. Winters here are different from back home, wetter, icier. They bite harsher. Maybe it senses their foreignness; in country, in themselves. The chasm that’s constantly threatening to crack between where their bodies slump over the railing. Hongjoong feels it pour onto his tongue, the usual repeals, reproaches; /I'm sorry, I didn't mean for us to become this shape. I didn't think, at the start of this, it was even possible. If I did, I would've never kissed you back. I should've never kissed you anyway. I should've broken your heart months ago./ He wants to say it all, with his hands tangled up under his sleeves against the winter, twisting his neuroses around his fingers as he watches the canal below freeze over. Wooyoung's voice is thicker when he speaks next. "I wish you'd just /fucking/ shoot me." "No, you don't," Hongjoong mutters. Next to him, Wooyoung laughs, but there's no humour in it. "Yes, I do," he insists. When he unsticks his mouth, Hongjoong feels like he can hear his throat, his tongue, like a pulse. It makes him feel sick. He squeezes his eyes shut. "Just put it to the back of my head instead and do it." "You think it's easy for me to hear you say shit like that, Young-ah?" Hongjoong grits out between his teeth. "At least you get to control something. It can be my last gift to you," he replies. Sniffles. "We're doomed, anyway, so why does it matter?" Hongjoong thinks he's going to throw up. "Then why did you even fucking try?" he demands. "If you know that just as well as I do. Why fucking bother with me?" Even this anger isn't what Wooyoung wants from him. He wants fiesty, playful, or at least, he wants self-defence. Push-and-pull. Hongjoong wants to fold at his feet. He wants to go home. "You act like it's just you. If I shoot you, I'm shooting myself. We're the same fucking target. I'm shooting /all/ of us. God–" Hongjoong takes in a sharp breath, "I can't talk to you when you're like this." "You can't talk to me anyway, you bastard." Hongjoong wrenches his eyes open, looks at him. His profile, face flushed pink with cold, wet eyes catching the light from the street lamps, the burning orange end of his cigarette when he takes a drag from it. As always, it's a mistake to look at him. "Fuck you," Hongjoong breathes, "seriously, just– fucking–" Winded, he sucks the air in, and hears it rattle in his mouth. He tries to put it all behind his words, but he can't. Every one turns into an apology, plea, confessional, fizzles out before he figures them into sentences. He drops his head, away from Wooyoung's pretty, distant face, into his hands, fingers cold enough to hurt, then, bowing over the railing, he hides in his elbows and tugs harshly at his hair. He feels the centrifuge of their relationship, wrenching him into a version of himself he doesn't recognise. His parts get scattered, spinning, weaving around Wooyoung's ankles, waiting for the day he gets angry enough to leave, even if it means killing them both. "Stop crying," he tells him. Hongjoong curls big fistfuls of his listless bleach-dead hair into his hands and pulls, pulls, pulls. His shoulders are shaking. The tears won't stop now. A few moments later, as if realising this, Wooyoung comes closer, and Hongjoong can smell the sharp nausea of cigarette breath on him, and his voice is near, tired and reluctant and, still, he cares, Hongjoong can feel it. "Hyung," he says, pulling him in, "don't cry." Hongjoong is held there, cold and slumped against Wooyoung's chest, because he doesn't know what else to be. Deer in headlights, damned by nature to meet its end face-on—so fast, and bright, and ill-timed.
