#VC10birthday no.2: Today is also the anniversary of ZA144's first flight as a K2 tanker. It had the highest serial, but was not the last to be delivered. Ex-G-ARVC, it spent 16 years with 101 Squadron delivering fuel, before retirement in 2000. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday no.1: Today is the anniversary of XR810's first flight in 1966. Named 'David Lord VC' in a ceremony at RAF Brize Norton it later took part in the Daily Mail Trans Atlantic Air Race. The team set a winning time but was disqualified. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of XR806's first flight in 1965. As the first of the RAF's C1 models, it was used for flight testing. Having flown over 35000 hours it tipped on its tail during a refuelling accident in 1997 and was later scrapped. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of G-ARVH's first flight in 1963. This Standard VC10 was used to train crews for BOAC before joining the airline's fleet. It was one of the three #VC10s to be traded to Boeing and scrapped at Heathrow. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of G-ASGP's first flight in 1968. This Super VC10 would later become the first K4 tanker to fly and was retired to Boscombe Down to be studied for aging aircraft research. It racked up 50270 flight hours in total. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of XV106's first flight in 1967. This RAF C Mk.1 was named 'Thomas Mottershead VC' and continued to fly with 10 Sqn and 101 Sqn until November 2012. The nose section is preserved with the Avro Heritage Museum. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday no.1: Today is the anniversary of G-ARVG's first flight in 1963. 'VG was initially used for crew training before its service with BOAC. Converted to the first K2 tanker ZA141, it served with the RAF for 17 years including during the Gulf War. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of 5H-MMT's first flight in 1966. The second airframe for EAA, it was converted to a K3 tanker for the RAF and became famous for carrying out the last ever landing of a VC10. The airframe was scrapped in 2021. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of XV105's first flight in 1967. This was the first C1(K) to operate the Washington schedule in 1970. It carried VIPs, flew with an anniversary tail and was finally retired in 2011 after 44 years and 38272 hours. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

Today is Battle of Britain day. It is also exactly 40 years ago that the memorial for RAF 10 Squadron, at their former base of RAF Melbourne in Yorkshire, was inaugurated. C1 XV104 overflew the memorial at the appropriate moment, there is a photo here: www.vc10.net/Memories/Cha...

#VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of 5X-UVA's first flight in 1966. The first airframe for EAA was used for promotional photos and carried out some firsts. It crashed during take off from Addis Ababa in 1972. Unfortunately 43 pax and crew died. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...
