I love seeing people win in life
Pinned
For transparency, what I am doing in life is primarily to honor my grandmother, to always trust myself, to never be afraid to fail ever again, to ignore family, friends, and anyone else who rejects my vision;
How happy or pissed would you be if U.S. government imposed a large tax or some kind of tariff on AI?

Starting is the hardest part. If you can break past the initial difficulty of beginning something, then you are ahead of so many people because that momentum will carry you forward through those daunting moments, and may reward you with increased opportunities.

It's insane to me that even apprenticeships in software engineering require 2-3+ years of experience in various languages. This is not the first one I have seen either.

I have reframed my perception of laziness. They aren't lazy, they are lost. Context matters. Of course, not every lazy person is lost. A majority of the time this appears to be relatively true, anecdotally.

It's not about doing good work, it's about doing the right good work.

Of all the things I have imagined in life, I must unequivocally say, that what has happened in the past few months was something I never thought was remotely possible. My friend is fighting against her ex-husband for custody of her children.

I think in a society where we're trained to prize answers, questions are the undervalued thing... I'm more impressed with people who know how to direct the machine by asking it the right questions... asking great questions is the 21st century skill that's undervalued right now.

Raise your prices. Your job is to find the ceiling of what the market will bear, then acquire the skills to close the skill gap. Raising prices is a way to test the market and identify the value of your services.

Would you trade places with Warren Buffet just to have his billions of dollars? But he's really old. If you would not take that deal, then you must value time over billions of dollars, right? Then start treating your time like it is valued too.

We have Microsoft Excel World Championships. How come we don't have @visualstudio.bsky.social
or @neovim.io
World Championships? What would that look like?

Haven't shared this because it's embarrassing, but here I go:

About 5 days ago, I had a car accident in the morning. The car is totalled. Had I not done a maneuver on the highway, I would have ended up in the hospital with serious injuries or death.

Please take the time to read this thread.

I shed a tear watching this. If you don't actually know, this is one of the most brilliant chess players in the last 100 years who has failed over and over and over and over and over and again throughout his entire career in chess. #100devs

When you hop on bluesky and see #100devs folks just grinding, you gotta send that like. Gotta support the homies and homettes (is this a word for women?)

Do you ever hop on X or Bluesky and see some friend's post, and you just it no matter what? Gotta support the homies and homettes, ya feel me?

“Everybody wants to be a bodybuilder, but nobody wants to lift no heavy-ass weights.” The legendary Ronnie Coleman said this, and it reminds me of software developers. "Everyone wants to be a software engineer, but nobody wants to do no heavy-ass coding sessions."

If there is one single thing that I want to do most in life, it's to find a conference where every VC is at, and they have you come out like some shark tank like effect. And so I come out to pitch the most memest meme pitch ever created. I want to die knowing that someone laughed and smiled that day

The 1 mistake anyone in #100devs can possibly make? To be anti-social and never make friends with people who are grinding their way to a new life. I believe this is called networking? Trust me when I say that you can reach 35 and have no real network by avoiding others. wait, I'm 35...

Happy new years everyone! For those who need motivation, and are afraid of continuing or doing what they know they should be doing, then I leave you with some random quotes jumbled together from Greg Plitt, may he rest in peace. Let's crush it in 2025, and hopefully, the year is good for all of us:

We focus on the negatives too much. Looking back at 2024, what wins did you have this year?

No matter what you're experiencing in life, remember, that the wins you get do compound eventually. Keep paying the hard work. In time, you will receive dividends, like stocks.
