My digital painting from A Christmas Story. I love the hushed closing moment of the parents watching the snow come down by the glow of the tree—it ties a lovely bow on the whole movie. Thought it’d be a good way to close my Christmas movie color study series. Merry Christmas, everyone!

My favorite painting in my Christmas movie color study series so far: Gonzo and Rizzo in The Muppet Christmas Carol. I spent way more time on the damn apple pile than on either of them, but this was still so much fun. I especially enjoyed doing Gonzo’s hat and the background ladies.

Here’s my latest digital painting/color study: The Grinch! This movie has so much Jim Carrey excellence and technicolor weirdness it was hard to pick a shot to paint but I think of his delivery of “your heart’s an empty ho-ole!” often for some reason so it won out.
