No wacky dramatics or overacting or overbooking, just a guy with star presence walking to the ring carrying himself like King Shit, coming in and laying waste.
That entrance and theme just made Swerve seem like the biggest star in the world. For a PPV that felt very B in terms of build and marquee match ups, that main event angle felt A+ big time. My passion for all modern wrestling is at a low ebb BUT THIS IS THE FUCKING STUFF.

No wacky dramatics or overacting or overbooking, just a guy with star presence walking to the ring carrying himself like King Shit, coming in and laying waste.
That entrance and theme just made Swerve seem like the biggest star in the world. For a PPV that felt very B in terms of build and marquee match ups, that main event angle felt A+ big time. My passion for all modern wrestling is at a low ebb BUT THIS IS THE FUCKING STUFF.

AEW is very relatable to me because it's full of people in storyline who try to take brave, principled stands and then eventually go "Eh, this is tough, I guess I'll give up and join these assholes."

The fact that the thing I'm seeing most reaction to from the interview is people laughing at Tony's polite brush off to the "How about Killer Kross?!" question is the best sign that you handled things well.
Tony/Ariel 2 had real "Democrat going into a pivotal second debate hosted by Fox News" vibes where Tony seemed very drilled and on point. Was personable enough to avoid "PR Robot" criticism, but careful enough to avoid stepping on any hot button topic landmines.

Getting work at the promotion where if you refuse to job they often will either indulge you or pay you to sit at home for the duration of your contract, only to then refuse to job before you get an actual deal is the kind of bold move that leads to a career in podcasting.

I think why a lot of bookers in wrestling history have liked having a ton of titles is because it simplifies booking. A title match or a number one contender's stip creates instant stakes for a match. Except if you flood the zone with titles, the stakes aren't really there.
My theory on wrestling titles is if all your current belts are over and well used, you can add another one. Otherwise, what are we doing here? It's like when you asked your Mom for a new toy and she wanted to see you play with the ones she just got you last month first.
