Incredible story that is a good reminder that hat we think of as generative AI usually has lots of real-life humans behind it.

Decorative gourd season! Hoping the little ghouls are scared by the decor and not the resident porch skunk. #abed

See ya in the spring, Sandhill Cranes noisy overhead this afternoon!
(Google helpfully offered to remove the cranes from this picture when I was cropping it.)

For anyone feeling back to school/end of summer/start of everything Sunday Scaries (though it's Monday), here is a picture of my cousin's dog jumping into the local outdoor pool at today's end-of-season dogs only day.

Hate this for us
Today the UcP confirmed that they will be going ahead with their new model for Urgent Care Centers in Alberta, starting with Airdrie.

This means private, for profit operators receiving taxpayer dollars to deliver emergency medical care.

Price comparisons of surgeries done at private facilities vs AHS costs, courtesy of the new documents obtained by the Globe and Mail.

Given what has been going on within the public health care system, especially the ongoing closures in rural Alberta, this data is horrifying.

It's -25, so perfect time to plan camping for the summer. What have Alberta campgrounds got against potable water? Our fondest hope is a bit of shade and not to get beaver fever.

Never thought of it this way, but of course free trade changed what produce is available in Canada. We had oranges and grapefruit when I was a kid, but not avocados either. I recall encountering my first mango, in university, and trying to pop it off the pit like a big peach.
I remember the first time I had avocado and I was 17 or so and it was in my aunt's salad and I was like ..... what on earth is this?!
MFer I grew up before NAFTA. I didn't have an avocado until I was 15 years old. I ate lunch in a Zellers cafeteria. I thought Robin Hood was just a guy who made flour.

I was made for this moment.

In the absence of family traditions for Imbolc / Bridgid's day / halfway between midwinter and the spring equinox, we did some spring cleaning. Spring feels far away in today's -20 snow, but brighter days, at least, are coming.

Dipping a toe in here, questioningly. Social media has descended into bots and nonsense, so I'm not sure. Will we have fun here as humans (or very handsome cats)? Hello friends, anyhow, for now.
