Ask me about my life as a hotel thief, a dishwasher, a gourmet cook, my bands, my graphic design, my punk club (OP-P), my surf-punk band, my life in Italy, my Paycheck Party politics, my ethnographic research, my theory of time beginning in the present…
The Jean Stafford story in the New Yorker Classics selection this week must be one of the greatest stories ever written because I instantly knew I’d read it before somewhere, sometime and recognized it instantly.

“Children Are Bored on Sunday,” by Jean Stafford
From 1948: “If the sight of someone so peripheral, so uninvolving as Alfred Eisenburg could scare her so badly, what would a cocktail party do?”

I hope Walt Jaschek saw this!
Jim Lee and I saw the original Superman in the same theater where we grew up in St Louis. Share your #Superman story in the comments and join us in celebrating #SupermanDay on April 18th (and grab your S Shield tee at DC Shop!)

Nothing could be finer than to wake up with a shiner and to open up an email and proceed to gawk at some blurry jpegs from your buddy in the morning!

In “Peanuts,” Lucy’s psychiatric stand debuted on March 27, 1959. (As the first strip shows, there was no overhead sign at first.) It next appeared on January 28, 1961, after nearly two years (the “learn to relax” gag). Here are the debut and two subsequent appearances:

Presenting the last remaining vestige of the long-lost promise of free internet fun that we never thought would be co-opted by evil corporate greed!
Remember back when the internet was as fun as a Tony Patti email? When it was simple, easy to get, effortless, friendly, accommodating, wide-ranging?

The British have become even weaker than they think, like Europe itself. This is not good for the fight against the Russian oligarchy.

This is resistance!
In my city there is one cybertruck and one DIY parody of a cybertruck and the parody truck has become a local celebrity. Meanwhile, I always wish I had some rotten eggs to throw at the tesla whenever I see it.

A wonderful, general interest, well written long read on the one font everybody knows that is never noticed. If you start reading you'll probably finish it.
I think every designer should write a love letter to a font at least once in their lifetime.

This is mine: A 150-year-old font you have likely never heard of, and one you probably saw earlier today.
