I walked across the fields from our friends’ house at 1am last night. Bright moonlight, clear skies and stars illuminated our church.

I’m hugely thrilled but you’re only as good as the people you work with and I have worked with amazing people over the years. Thank you to them.

The new configuration of the rooms at Pickford’s House Derby Museums is first class. Gone are the velvet ropes, barriers and out of date interpretation. Visitors can walk all the way around the rooms and find out new stories of people who made the house their home.

Just maybe, a more fitting legacy for Her Majesty would be using that £46m to sustain an existing network of regional civic museums throughout the land. museumsandheritage.com/advisor/post...

The Museum of Making was visited by residents from Kiwi care home today. I had the pleasure of meeting Dennis who worked at the former Derby Industrial Museum for 20 years. I hope they visit again soon.

Lovely morning with Sir Tim Smith founder @edenproject.bsky.social

Under gaze of Erasmus Darwin we talked of a new Age of Enlightenment inspired by the natural philosophers of the 18th century. The observation and understanding of nature helped them make sense of their place in the world.

The new Labour govt addressing the scandalous state of children’s social care should be cheered. #r4today

Great to see Derby North MP Catherine Atkinson @ Museum of Making today with the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site team. Being Southern gateway to this UNESCO inscribed site is important to us Derby Museums, placing us firmly with the historic landscape of the birth of the factory system.

I’ve been enjoying reading the responses from the brilliant young people who joined @derbymuseums National Saturday Club this year.

They worked in textiles (with industry friends John Smedley) Clay and ink.

Inspired them to further their studies - perhaps become a tattoo artist!
