Into books, cooking, origami, programming.
Still fondly imagining that one day I'll be able to play to piano & viola da Gamba.
Interesting, thanks.
I assumed wealth because it seemed too personal - focused on a specific writer - to be just about the system and its weights & pulleys.

By money you mean wealth? Definitely, and it's clearly audible now that you mention it, though intellect was the one I heard loudest.

I surely am, but it's the first episode that made me feel there was one to be written...

You did sound a bit of a dick in the beginning, but by the end you sounded more rattled, or threatened. Is there a backstory there?
Great episode though & definitely made me curious to read the books.

Just seeing this now. Really fascinating. Hungarians apparently still had measurable Yakut ancestry in the Middle Ages but by now are genetically indistinguishable from others in Central Europe, while Finns are still 10% Yakut

Closest you'll ever get is a slight waggle of the eyebrows from a retired superintendent (of a different force) on a daytime talk show, and "not sure that's the approach I'd have used"

Wayside School has moments of surreal genius (eg the one with the pets) My daughter got into reading thanks to them.

Best Friends for Frances is the best. Very snappy dialogue and perfect balance of malice & heart.
"Chompo Bar" is also a family reference now

How do they rank on the Skittles scale (of colourants banned in the EU)?

The Skrmetti judgement is an encouraging sign - even judges make mistakes but in this case the majority didn't.

Also if you've not heard Irving Finkel talking about Noah's Ark, he's great.

And before you accuse people like me of any kind of any kind of phobia, understand that you are arguing for doing irreversible harm to healthy bodies, creating lifelong patients, taking years of their lives, taking their fertility and lowering their IQ.
While we want to keep them healthy and whole.

That we is referring to your own family or group, or do you mean society as a whole?
Because as a society we don't even teach our children to love and accept themselves for how they are - especially if they are girls and it's how they are physically - let alone other people.

Insofar as the law seeks to prevent harm being done to children on the basis of their sex (which doesn't match their gender identification)... even judges make mistakes.

'It took more than 45 minutes for the Women and Equalities Committee to mention “women and girls”. That was left to Conservative MP Rebecca Paul, who, with Rosie Duffield, sat physically apart from and in stark contrast to the rest of the committee.'

Do our politicians understand the supreme court’s gender ruling?
As members of the Women and Equalities Committee questioned Baroness Kishwer, it was not clear they do.
